David Bowie, Farewell Goblin King. You Will Be Missed

When I was in middle school, we had a lot of slumber parties, and at every single one of these slumber parties, we watched THE LABYRINTH. (It’s even one of my top ten favorite movies of all time.)David-Bowie-Labyrinth

I didn’t know it then, but David Bowie is and always will be a big part of who I am today. To me, Jareth wasn’t the evil Goblin King who took away Sarah’s baby brother, Toby. He was the guy who loved a nerdy girl that couldn’t bring herself to get her nose out of a book.

And that girl was me.

“And, Hoggle if she ever kisses you, I will turn you into a Prince.”

“Y-You Will?”

“Prince of the Land of Stench!”

David Bowie wasn’t afraid of being an outcast, he was the KING of the outcasts. He wasn’t afraid of doing his own thing, and that is what made him so special.

A few years ago, I watched the Labyrinth with my daughter. Do yourself a favor today and watch it again. It holds up.

RIP David Bowie. You will be missed. Thank you for being yourself.
