For a Moment Last Night, I Considered Quitting
I think it’s important to be honest in your blog posts, so–even though it isn’t popular to do so–I am going to admit that I thought about giving up on this whole publication dream of mine.
*dramatic pause*
I stared at my book. Gave it a real hard look–realized that I loved it. I really genuinely love my story, and every time someone says no to it, well, it hurts.
So, I thought about just hanging it up. For no one to read. I was just going to leave Sketch the way it was, and be perfectly happy that in my life I wrote a book.
Then I realized something.
I can’t do that to Sketch. She’s just that awesome. She has to be read! But, more importantly–I can’t do that to myself. I’ve come this far. Why would I just quit? That would be crazy. So, Sketch needs a little editing and revising–so what? I LOVE editing and revising. It makes me smile to sit in a schmancy coffee shop and type on my pearly pink laptop.
So, I got to work.
I reworked some things in the first chapter, I added more emotions- I made Sketch more relatable.
I made it better.
There’s no way I’m quitting now…
Oh, man, I so feel you. I feel like this all. the. time. Seriously. So don’t give up! Can’t wait to read Sketch. 🙂

You KNOW I’m glad you’re not giving up – it is the last thing you should do. I LOVE Sketch and have total confidence and faith that you WILL find the right agent/editor and we WILL see this fabulous story published!!!
BTW – it was another school nearby. We loved UNT!!!! We had a good trip and I thought of you while we were in your area. It’s pretty up there and we even saw some rain drops on the way out of town.

I’ve been having the SAME feelings the past few days. Feeling very discouraged and frustrated.
I’m glad you decided to keep going. I love your story!
Uh yeah, no way are any of us going to let you get away with that my dear! I love the honesty though because we ALL hav days like that. Think of the times you talked me off the ledge? lol
Moments of doubt can really help you find how much love you have for something, especially a book that you feel no one else loves as much. But guess what? A lot us love Sketch too so keep at it until you find the agent who does too!
