I live in a house full of boys so big messes, gross things, and laughing at random things are totally part of my day. Boys will be boys but I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. Not even the part where my husband is pretty much a third child. I love that my husband is a big kid. It’s AWESOME. He can play and connect with our boys and they adore him for it. So today we are partnering with Toys R Us to share a fun way you can have your kids connect with dad this summer.

My Husband is a Big Kid and It’s Awesome

I want to start by saying that my husband is not childish or immature for his age (he is 27 years old) but I will say, he is a big kid. There is no denying that he actually gets more excited to visit our local Toys “R” Us than our boys do. From action figures to NERF Blasters, they have everything we need to have fun and bring out the kid in us all.

Now that summer is here we got a bit creative and picked up some of the newest NERF blasters, set up a battlefield in our backyard and had some FUN!

The NERF blasters we snagged were:

  • NERF N-Strike Modulus ECS-10 Blaster (we got 2 of these)
  • NERF N-Strike Elite Stryfe BlasterTTB Nerf1

Tip: Don’t forget the batteries! We snagged a large 16 pack of Duracell Coppertop AA batteries.

Both are totally awesome. The NERF N-Strike Modulus is a rather large blaster and it’s customizable. It is a flexible blaster that has more than 30 combinations and features targeting scope, drop grip and dual-rail barrel. The blaster can launch the included darts at targets up to 90 feet away!

The N-Strike Elite Stryfe Blaster is a smaller blaster and is actually perfect for smaller children. My son is almost 2 and he ran around with it. He didn’t quite get how to shoot the darts without assistance but, it was still fun for him to have one and this was the perfect size! This 6-dart dynamo lets you launch Elite Darts up to 75 feet one-handed!

Another thing we picked up at Toys “R” Us while we were there was a package of those self-filling balloons. We put them in a large cooler in the middle of our yard and that was a way each person had to run to the middle to grab a water balloon. It made you an easy target so you had to be fast. I will also quickly mention we didn’t realize we got princess colored balloons until they were already filled – HA! TTB Nerf12

This activity was so fun and perfect for kids and their dad to bond. My boys loved every minute of it. It was a great way to get some exercise, get wet, and just have fun. You can sure tell my husband had fun:My Husband is a Big Kid and It's Awesome Featured

So if you have a husband that is a big kid too, keep in mind that you can pick up some NERF blasters at your local Toys “R” Us and let the entire family have some much needed fun. It’s also worth noting that 6/12 – 6/18 you can buy 1 pack of Duracell batteries and get the 2nd 40% off. In addition, select Elite Blasters will be 20% off. I think these would make the perfect Father’s Day gift, don’t you?

  1. We love spending time outdoors during the summer months! I can totally attest to men being big kids and loving their toys. Our neighbors have had an ongoing airsoft (rubber BB’s) battle going sincebefore we moved in. I’ve only gotten caught in the crossfire once, fortunately, when I was watering my garden and when they came over to make sure I was okay, I soaked them with the garden hose. LOL
