The best part about celebrating Independence Day in the summer (aside from the fact that, you know, it’s always on the 4th of July) is that summer = ice cream. And let’s face it, ice cream is basically the best dessert ever. Only problem is, the store-bought stuff isn’t quite festive enough for ‘Murica Day. Don’t worry, my fellow Americans, I’ve got the perfect solution for you: No Churn 4th of July Ice Cream.

No Churn 4th Of July Ice Cream

What You’ll Need to Make No Churn 4th of July Ice Cream:

  • 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tub blue frosting
  • Red food coloring
no churn ice cream

How to Make No Churn 4th of July Ice Cream:

Whip heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form. White, and majestic like the peaks of our mountains majesty. Oh sweet land o’ liberty! *cough* I got…away from myself.

In a separate bowl, blend condensed milk and sugar until combined. They might not want to combine at first, but we’re a melting pot and by golly, they’re Going to combine. But not melt. Because we’re making ice cream and ice cream is best not melted. Slowly pour the condensed milk mixture into the whipped cream, stirring constantly.

Add the red food coloring and mix again, then pour the mixture into a loaf pan. I shouldn’t have to note this, but I’m afraid I must: even though this is going into a loaf pan, there will be no baking. Again, we’re making ice cream. Sweet majestic ice cream like the flag flowing bright red, white, and blue over every truck in Texas…

icecream2

Scoop out 4 scoops of blue frosting and use a knife to swirl the frosting into the ice cream mixture. Swirl this time, not blend. Because again, even though we’re a melting pot we aren’t melting this ice cream. And we want it to be swirly delicious, not melty blah.

icecream3

Add 3 more scoops to the top of the ice cream mixture and spread it out to create a swirl effect on top.

icecream4

Freeze for at least six hours, then enjoy! Technically you can enjoy this before the six hours is up, but I’d recommend at least that long. It takes a while for good blended things to solidify and become one. Like the one nation we celebrate each 4th. Happy Independence Day, y’all!
