You Paid How Much For That? Why LuLaRoe Is More Than Money

Look, you could read the rest of this if you are wondering, “Why is LuLaRoe so expensive?” But let me be honest with you, I have no idea why it’s so expensive. Even LuLaRoe sellers know that LuLaroe Leggings are total crap, and you should NOT waste your money on the LuLaRoe dresses, shirts, or skirts.

LuLaRoe used to be worth the money. LuLaRoe used to be expensive for a reason. Then a lawsuit claimed that LuLaRoe stopped paying their manufacturer, MyDyer, and they now owe them millions of dollars. This means that they’ve since changed manufacturers, and now they are just awful in every way. They treat their retailers like second class citizens, and I am not impressed.

Whatever you do, do not buy LuLaRoe.

LuLaroe Consultants have actually filed several class action lawsuits against LuLaroe and one even claims that in 2017, retailers of LuLaRoe encouraged one woman that she should sell breast milk in order to be able to afford starting a LuLaRoe business.

LuLaRoe is a pyramid scheme

They prey on helpless moms via social media who are hoping to take care of their families and bring some extra income into their home. Their unfair business practices have resulted in Lawsuit after lawsuit filed against them.

I’ll never forget the day LuLaRoe announced their new t-shirt dress, the Carly. I about went nuts over the pictures.

I could see myself layering it with a long sweater, leggings and boots. Belting it with flats. Oh, the options were endless!

And then my friend scrunched her nose at me and said those words, “$50 for a t-shirt? Really?”

Honestly, I never even blinked at the price tag, and that’s a new one for me.

Why LuLaRoe Is More Than Money

LuLaRoe clothing runs from about $25 for leggings all the way up to $70 for a duster style sweater. Most of their dresses fall somewhere around $40-$60. Before LuLaRoe entered my life I was a career thrift store shopper, clearance rack stalker, and sale obsessed.

If it wasn’t discounted, I wasn’t interested. If something didn’t fit quite right or look perfect–who cared? It was only $5.

When a friend of mine invited me to this LuLaRoe sale I eyeballed the prices, laughed and said, “Yeah, right.” I snagged a few pairs of brightly patterned leggings because I’d worn holes in my discount bin pairs and figured some prints could liven up my life.

Little did I know…I was about to have a problem…

It started slowly enough in December 2017, LuLaroe became an obsession.

A few more leggings.

I’ll try that skirt.

Might as well give that dress a whirl.

I like that print so much I don’t care what it’s on so long as I have it.

And then…I realized I was going whole weeks at a time with at least part of my outfits being a LuLaRoe thing.

Then a big life event happened for me in February: I was laid off from the same job I’d had for nine years. Nine. Years. And I was devastated.

That day I cried my eyes out, put on my favorite pair of LuLaRoe leggings and let myself be hopeless and miserable. The very next day I got up, put on the most rediculous outfit of leggings, a skirt, a tank top and a sweater possible and got to work.

I was going to be a full time author, dang it, and the first thing I reached for on all occasions that week to make me feel better? My LuLaRoe.

Though there’s not really a “typical” person who wears LuLaRoe, I’m probably less typical than most. I’m weird. Out there. And still, this is a brand that speaks to me.

I’ve found that, when I wear their clothing, when I compliment other people on their Roe and likewise receive compliments, I feel better about myself.

As a creative person, this is a big deal.

My state of mind, keeping myself thinking positive, is worth more than a $50 t-shirt dress.

And I’m not alone.

There are many other women out there who feel like I do.

Yes, I can hear you now. All the reasons why I’m silly, why $50 is still $50, and the rational is valid. And so is mine.

LuLaRoe makes clothing that has changed the way I feel about myself and the way I approach getting ready for my day. It’s created a more positive, happier person in me, and for that reason, I’ll gladly remain a loyal customer.

  2. Thank you for being positive! I am 57 wear LLR everyday! I feel beautiful! I am not a retailer… just a hooked on LLR Shopper, almost two years. I have never experienced the negative holes and shoddy craftsmanship that people report. I have the best retailer friends and couldn’t be happier with my clothing selections. Glad I saw your post!

  3. I love this article! I fell in love with LuLaRoe right around the time that I started iVF for my miracle baby. The clothing was the only thing that made giving myself shots for 5 months bearable… also the knowledge that at the end of the rainbow would be a real life pot of gold (my baby boy). The clothing lets me express my personality, while also feeling comfortable. That’s why I became a retailer after having my son, so that I could share my love of this amazing clothing with other women!

    1. Unfortunately, since I’ve written this article lularoe has really shown their true side and they have some shady business practices. We don’t work with them anymore and you should get out while you can. They are feeding you guys a lot of lies, and told so many many untrue stories about fellow retailers. They don’t have your best interests in mind, and they will screw you in the end.

I am so glad to no longer be affiliated with them.

      1. Not everything in writing is true. I am happy with my retailers and sorry I saw you say a negative after I wrote a positive on your review. I support I my LLR Friends.

  4. I have been the same way since lularoe entered my life! A friend of mine added me to a group and I entered a giveaway and actually won a pair of leggings *I had never won anything in my life!!!lol I instantly fell in love, so much so I became a retailer. I’m hoping I will be able to go the distance with LuLaRoe but times are getting tough? but fingers crossed that will change soon!! I hope your new journey as an author has been goinf fabulous for you and only gets better!!!

  5. Girl, that outfit you call crazy is my dream style, and I have a few pieces to actualize that dream 😉 Hope your new career is going smashingly!

  6. My closet is full of LuLaRoe. Now I have a room full of it since I am now a retailer. I have to share the feel good styles for all of the the sizes and shapes of every woman.

  7. I agree completely. I am not a girly girl and never really have been and I NEVER spent much on clothes because I came from a family of six kids. I bought my first pair of leggings this year because a friend was having a party and she had bought a lot of Thirty-One from me so I wanted to help her out. I fell in LOVE with those leggings. I am still new to LLR and I don’t have a lot but what I do have I love! I am a bigger girl and there are never cute things in my size that are modest. I now have an Irma and I love that its not revealing and it’s cute!

    1. Jen!!! Try the Perfect T! I started with the Irmas and loved them, but the Perfect T is my go to now!!!!

    2. @Jen,
I’ve been a very loyal customer to LLR ever since 2017 (during the “Halloween season”, which is known far & wide to be their best-selling time). I think that I will always love LLR, in a way, but I am very very picky now. I usually only shop with them during their “Holiday” (any/every Holiday) launches & releases, I rarely shop with them at any other time, I might get a top once in a blue moon. My main obsession with LLR is: Leggings, and now Jax jogger pants (but, as I stated before I’ve become VERY picky). Why they’ve never came out with “Halloween Jax” joggers is beyond me, but whatever. Point I’m making is, certain LLR Loyal Customers favor only certain things. You can throw a gazillion skirts, dresses, tops and cover-ups at Customers and in case you haven’t noticed they’re selling less & less. Unless it’s from a Noir collection (which will always sell, because people want solid black) or an Elegant collection, like from 2017 (I had tons of dresses and skirts from that, which I have since sold to consignment stores) I’m not interested, just Leggings & Jax jogger pants for me anymore.

  8. You sound like an amazing and fascinating person! I would love to know more about you and your life experiences. I got my first piece of LuLaRoe in February and am totally hooked. I’ve spent a small fortune on the clothes, but my husband doesn’t mind–he sees the change in me. I no longer spend my day in shapeless tank tops and shorts or sweats, but I actually get dressed and care about how I look since I have clothes that make me look and feel good about myself. Thank you for sharing your story!

  9. Seriously that skirt!! Thank you for finally someone that wears LuLaRoe that can put a good “light” on the brand! I am 63 years old and Love LuLaRoe. I am not ready for Alfred Dunner clothes just yet (alsthiugh theyndo have some cute things.) You keep doing youmand stay fabulous!!
