Our days get busy and each day becomes a routine. Wake up, get ready, get kids ready, rush them out the door, head to work, get home, make dinner. It’s a routine that is easy to fall into and we can forget to let those around us know how much they mean to us. Show your kids how important they are to you, do little things to let them know how much they matter.

1. Say “I love you” often.

2. Pay attention to them when they are talking to you.

3. Have a dance party.

6. Sing to/with them. This can go along with your dance party or simply singing in the car!

7. Play along with them, whether it is blocks, coloring or video games.

8. Play together in the sprinkler.

9. Tell them that you trust them.

10. If you are wrong, say you are sorry.

11. Play in the rain and splash in the puddles together.

12. Refrain from comparing them to other children and assure they that they are the best “them” there is and ever will be.

  1. This list is great! There are many I already try to do on a regular basis and many more I need to try.
    A couple of my favorites:(76) tell funny stories about your kids when they were smaller. My daughters love hearing about when they were young.
    (30) Don’t make promises you can’t keep…I live by this rule. I believe this is the cardinal rule for gaining a child’s trust.

    I need to work on just being silly and laughing with them more. My daughter told me today she wants me to play Barbies with her….guess what I’ll be doing this weekend?! Yep, (7)!!
