Haunted Hotel has been renewed for Season 3, with new episodes coming to Netflix in 2027. Bloody Disgusting reported the October 30, 2026 announcement and included Netflix’s renewal post. What’s on Netflix also confirmed the renewal and return year.

What we know about the Season 3 release

For now, 2027 is the release window, not a specific premiere date. There isn’t a confirmed Season 3 episode count in the renewal news, either.

So if you’re trying to figure out whether to save a particular weekend for more supernatural hotel chaos, that part will have to wait. The useful distinction is that the show is coming back, but a calendar date is not yet part of the announcement.

Where to catch up before the hotel reopens

The first two seasons are available on Netflix. Season 2 arrived on October 9, 2026, so this renewal follows the newest batch of episodes rather than announcing that season all over again.

If you’re new to the show, the setup is a family business with a very unusual staffing problem. A single mom is trying to run the haunted Undervale hotel alongside her brother’s ghost, her two children, and a demon living in a little boy’s body. Ordinary hotel complaints suddenly sound pretty manageable.

Netflix describes it as an adult animated comedy, so don’t mistake the cartoon characters for a kids’ Halloween pick. Matt Roller created the series, and the voice cast includes Will Forte, Eliza Coupe, Skyler Gisondo, Natalie Palamides, and Jimmi Simpson.

Start with Season 1 if you want the family’s introduction, then move into Season 2. No Season 3 spoilers needed to make that plan.

The Keurig Alta launched in the U.S. on October 29, 2026. Its new AltaRounds look more like little coffee pucks than the familiar plastic pods. Keurig says they are pressed ground coffee held together with a plant-based coating, with a recipe code the machine reads to choose the brewing settings.

Your K-Cups fit. The new rounds won’t fit your old Keurig.

According to Keurig’s FAQ, Alta has two separate brewing chambers: AltaRounds go on the left, and K-Cup pods go on the right. The company also says it is keeping K-Cups in its lineup.

The compatibility only goes one way. AltaRounds require the Alta brewer, so a box of them is not an upgrade you can pop into the Keurig you already own. Check which machine your gift recipient has before buying the new coffee.

What the $499.99 set includes

The official Signature Set listing includes the brewer and four eight-count boxes of AltaRounds. That is 32 rounds in the selected boxes, plus three samples listed inside the brewer box. A frother cup and whisk are included too.

The machine has an integrated milk frother with hot and cold settings, along with a touchscreen for choosing and customizing drinks. Keurig offers Sandstone, Sandstone & Satin Stainless, and Graphite finishes.

At nearly $500, this is a purchase worth measuring for before falling in love with the color. The listed footprint is 10.84 inches wide and 19 inches deep. It is 11.77 inches tall closed, but the FAQ calls for 16.97 inches of clearance with a handle fully open. Check under those upper cabinets.

The refill cost is worth looking at, too

As checked October 31, 2026, the official store lists The House, Double Shot, Bold Ambition and Sweet Spot at $10.99 per eight-count box, about $1.37 per round before tax or shipping. Milk and other additions would be extra.

Keurig’s launch announcement names six varieties, but Single Shot and Fresh Take are currently marked “Coming Soon” and out of stock on the store. The announcement and the available-to-order selection are not quite the same list yet.

The order flow offers both a one-time purchase and recurring AutoRefresh delivery. Check that selection if you just want one order rather than a coffee subscription.

One other distinction: Keurig describes the rounds themselves as plastic-free. They are individually wrapped, so that does not mean the entire purchase arrives without packaging. Its FAQ says used rounds are not recyclable and recommends composting where available.

A new Rocket survey found that 51% of parents take their young children trick-or-treating on their own street, even though 86% say their neighborhood would be a great place for it.

The hesitation? Among families with children 12 and younger, 52% assume there won’t be enough participating houses to make the trip worthwhile.

There’s a mismatch on the candy-giving side, too. Rocket says nearly four in 10 households skipped handing out candy last year because they didn’t expect visitors. Among those who skipped it, 39% said they would participate if they knew their neighbors were joining in.

That is not proof that a group text will fill your porch. But asking neighbors who’s participating is a practical way to replace some guessing with an actual plan before October 31. Share your own plans, too, instead of assuming everyone already knows.

One important limit: Rocket describes an online survey of 1,500 census-representative Americans overall. Its release does not give field dates or the sizes of the parent and other subgroups. These are reported survey responses, not a count of children on every street.

The store’s October 28 holiday pairing list includes a wine-and-chocolate option and a beer-and-dessert option. Pick the one that fits the people you’re shopping for. Neither requires making dessert from scratch.

Cabernet and a chocolate bar: $13.28

ALDI pairs Specially Selected Maipo Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($9.99) with a Moser Roth Dark Chocolate Mousse Filled Chocolate Bar ($3.29).

This is the straightforward bottle-and-a-little-something-extra choice. The chocolate comes in a bar rather than a dessert cup, if you’re deciding what to bring.

Breakfast stout and chocolate desserts: $11.98

The second combination is Bed Head Breakfast Stout ($7.99) with Specially Selected Chocolate Belgium Desserts ($3.99). ALDI’s product photo shows the chocolate mousse desserts in individual cups.

That makes this the option to put out at dessert time instead of handing over a bottle of wine.

The pairings are ALDI’s suggestions, not a taste test. Each total is the sum of the two advertised prices—not a bundle deal or a per-person cost. ALDI says desserts are available nationwide and alcohol at select stores during the holiday season, while supplies last. Check your store’s prices and stock; alcoholic drinks are for adults 21 and older.

Disney included it in the holiday food lineup announced October 28. Under that helmet is a chocolate-chip-cookie-and-brownie combination, topped with white chocolate ganache and rainbow sprinkles.

Where to find the Partysaurus Rex Brookie

The brookie will be at Market in Pixar Plaza at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during Jollywood Nights. The separately ticketed party runs on select nights from November 7, 2026, through January 5, 2027.

This is the sort of dessert that deserves its photo before anyone takes a bite out of the helmet. Disney’s picture gives it a whole tiny party scene.

There’s a new Twix dessert, too

Over at Fairfax Fare on Sunset Boulevard, A TWIX on a Classic Pie layers caramel mousse and chocolate ganache over a shortbread crust with pieces of the candy bar. Whipped cream, holiday sprinkles and a white-chocolate gingerbread figure finish the slice.

Those are two different stops, so check the menu locations rather than assuming both sweets are at the same counter.

Is the food included with a Jollywood Nights ticket?

No. Disney’s official event page says food and drinks cost extra. Event admission is separately priced at $169–$199 plus tax, depending on the date. Disney has not listed a price for either dessert in this menu announcement.

The party runs from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Eastern, and ticket holders can enter Hollywood Studios starting at 5:30 p.m. on their event date without an additional daytime park ticket or reservation. Tickets are limited, and menu offerings can change.

Big Green Egg teamed up with FINEX on a 5-quart cast-iron Dutch oven, and the run is limited to 500 individually numbered pieces. The price is $349.99, so we’re talking about a serious grill-person present, not a little stocking stuffer.

The collaboration went on sale October 13. It’s the first product from the two brands, with more collaborations planned for 2027.

The collectible detail is underneath

FINEX’s eight-sided shape is here, along with a brass lid knob and coiled stainless-steel handles. Turn the pot over and there’s a Big Green Egg-and-FINEX design on the bottom. Each piece is individually numbered.

That bottom artwork is the detail to show the person who already has opinions about cast iron. The included lid is much more understated.

Check the size before you gift it

Big Green Egg lists it as fitting Medium, Large, XL and 2XL Eggs with the dome closed. That list does not include the smaller Eggs. It also works with ovens, stovetops and induction, so the grill isn’t its only home.

And it is hefty: the listed weight is 16 pounds. At 13.75 inches long, 10.5 inches wide and 7 inches tall with the lid, it’s worth checking both the cooking setup and the cupboard.

The spring handles are designed to shed heat faster than solid cast iron, but that does not mean you can grab them barehanded. The brand calls for heat-resistant gloves. For cleanup, hand-wash, dry thoroughly and lightly oil it; skip soaking and the dishwasher.

Toyota revealed the TRD Surf concept on October 31, 2024, for the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The build started with a 2025 4Runner and took its inspiration from the original 4Runner and Southern California surf culture.

Toyota’s photos show an actual concept build. It has two doors and a removable hardtop that Toyota says was designed for one person to take off.

One person. That is an excellent detail. I do not want my hypothetical cute-car day to begin with recruiting a roof-removal committee.

Toyota also gave the concept waterproof flooring and a front passenger seat that flips forward so people can get into the back. The blue-and-turquoise color combination is doing a considerable amount of flirting with me, too.

The part where I get annoyed: it’s still a concept

This is where I have to interrupt my own excitement: I could not find a Toyota announcement confirming a production TRD Surf, a price, or an on-sale date as of October 30, 2026. Toyota introduced it as a concept, and the regular 4Runner is a separate vehicle.

The photos date back to 2024. They do not mean a removable-top 4Runner has just been announced for dealerships.

I understand that a show build takes work to turn into something people can actually buy. I would simply like Toyota to know that I am very interested in them doing that work.

Give us a version that keeps the personality: the two-door shape, the removable top, and a color that looks like someone in the design department was allowed to enjoy themselves.

I can let the engineers work out the complicated bits. My contribution is pointing at the pictures and saying, “Yes. More of that.”

I don’t need to be a surfer to want this

I live in Colorado. My version of this fantasy involves mountains, sunshine, and taking the longer way home because the weather is good.

A removable roof makes even an ordinary drive sound more fun to me. I want something with a little personality. Something I would park, walk away from, and then turn around to look at again.

This would get the look back.

We covered the sixth-generation 4Runner when Toyota revealed it. The TRD Surf takes that shape somewhere I would very much like to follow.

And then there’s the green Land Cruiser ROX

If the Toyota you have been looking at is green, with open sections in the doors, that is a different concept: the Land Cruiser ROX.

Toyota showed that one for SEMA 2024, too. Its roof is a sliding soft top, rather than the Surf’s lift-off hardtop. It has Spring Green paint and an orange interior, which is a very effective way to make me want a second concept vehicle I cannot order.

Apparently, Toyota has plenty of ideas about how to make an open-air SUV look good. I would love to see one make it to a showroom.

Dear Toyota, tell us what it takes

Do we need a petition? A strongly worded love letter? Someone standing outside a meeting room holding a picture of this 4Runner?

Consider this my contribution. If the point of a concept is to find out whether people want it, please record one very enthusiastic yes.

Keep the boxy shape. Keep that removable top. Please keep some fun colors in the conversation. And if pink ever comes up in a product-planning meeting, I would like my support entered into the record.

You already built the vehicle that made me stop and ask whether Toyota was finally doing this. I would love the next answer to be yes.

Dear Toyota: please let this one graduate from concept car to something with a price tag.

The Disney Holiday Pastel Collection is coming to DisneyStore.com on November 2, 2026. Disney confirmed the online date in the October 27 update to its official holiday merchandise guide. The announcement says the collection is coming soon to Disney Parks, without giving a park-specific arrival date.

The pink peppermint ears are the standout accessory

The Minnie Mouse Holiday Ear Headband with Bow in Pink Peppermint has pink-and-white candy-swirl ears and a big pink bow. Disney’s photos show it with a pale jacket, so the ears can do the holiday work without an entire matching outfit.

For a bigger dose of the print, the collection includes the Mickey Mouse Icon Wreath “Happy Holidays” Spirit Jersey, crew fleeces, zip-up sweaters and holiday pajamas. Disney describes designs for adults and kids; check the individual listings for each item’s sizing when they become available.

The drinkware gives you the look without buying clothes

The Mickey Mouse Icon Holiday Stainless Steel Travel Cup holds 33 ounces and comes with a straw. The official photo shows pink bodies, mint-colored handles and lids, with castles, wreaths, bows and candy canes in the print.

There is also a Fantasyland Castle Holiday Mug. If you are choosing a gift and do not know someone’s clothing size, these are the two pieces to compare once prices and individual listings are available.

What to check before the November 2 launch

Disney has announced the online date, but not an exact launch hour or prices in this preview. The announcement also does not guarantee every size or item will be available throughout the season.

Nookies are back on the menu, with warm chocolate chip cookie dough inside a fried exterior. The change this time is a cinnamon-sugar finish.

In its October 29 announcement, Torchy’s says the bites returned after more than two years away. They originally arrived in 2008 under the name Lil’ Nookies.

Do you need Rewards to order them?

The secret-menu head start was for Rewards members, who got access one week early. The October 29 news is the broader menu return, not the start of another members-only window.

One date worth separating from the dessert: November 10 is the announced end of Torchy’s Taco Two-Step deal. It is not a Nookies end date. The release doesn’t give a price, serving size or final day for the cookie dough bites.

This is a documentary about the Canadian sketch-comedy show, not a new season of sketches. Netflix lists Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Martin Short and Joe Flaherty among its featured cast.

Directed by Jason Hehir, the film looks at how the small production became a launching pad for comedy talent. According to Netflix’s preview, it brings together cast interviews, a Toronto reunion and archival material.

There’s a nice reason for longtime fans to pay attention to the clips, too. Hehir told Netflix that he asked cast members which sketches they wanted included and worked from their choices.

You can find the TV-14 documentary on its Netflix title page; a Netflix subscription is required. Just don’t confuse this film with the original SCTV episodes: you’re choosing a documentary about the show, not a new season of it.

ALDI’s U.S. listing has LEGO Snowman Ornaments, set 40812, priced at $12.99 and available from November 4. That falls in its November 4–10 ALDI Finds week.

This is a little building project that becomes Christmas décor, rather than a box of already-finished ornaments. The 168-piece set makes two snowmen, with hanging rings for displaying them on the tree. LEGO recommends it for ages 6 and up.

The adult snowman’s top hat has a tiny festive decoration, while the child wears oversized round glasses. Both have carrot noses, and the finished figures can stand in a holiday display instead of hanging. The taller one measures over 4 inches high; the smaller one is over 3 inches.

You don’t have to wait for ALDI

LEGO’s U.S. shop currently lists the same set as available for $12.99, with a limit of five per household. So ALDI’s upcoming arrival is another place to look, not an exclusive release or a lower advertised price.

If you’re already planning an ALDI trip, check your store’s availability and price before heading out. If you’d rather order directly from LEGO, factor shipping into the total: its listed standard shipping charge for an order up to $25 is $4.95.

Either way, look for set 40812. Two snowmen, one small holiday build, and no need to clear an entire shelf for a winter village.

BOLD: How Women PLAY BIG by Leading Instead of Pleasing, the new book by Barrie Zucal, takes on that pattern. Released October 14, it asks women to give their own ambitions a place in the decisions they make.

When being “good” gets expensive

On her official book page, Zucal calls the conditioning that keeps women pleasing, performing and putting others first “debilitating goodness.” Her book combines memoir, reflection and practical guidance about boundaries, self-trust and leadership.

The useful distinction here is between choosing to help and automatically making yourself available. A yes can be generous. A yes you feel unable to refuse can leave you with a life you barely had a vote in.

This is familiar territory around here. Our earlier piece on being everybody’s go-to person gets into how quickly all those little favors can pile up. Zucal’s book brings that conversation to the choices women make about work, family and their own development.

She started powerlifting at 70

Zucal began powerlifting at 70 and went on to set Maryland state records in the deadlift and bench press, according to the book’s announcement. Her official biography also includes work as a marriage and family therapist and founder of a global executive coaching company.

Picking up a barbell at 70 is a pretty good response to the idea that you should have figured out every interesting part of yourself by now.

Her book’s leadership angle reaches beyond a job title. The author describes it as relevant to women raising families, running businesses, changing careers or deciding what comes next. You can lead a team and still struggle to put your own needs on the calendar.

If you’re looking for a book about boundaries with an emphasis on what you want to build, rather than just what you want to stop doing, that’s the conversation this one is opening.

Patrick Stewart could make you believe a spaceship had the right captain. He could make a school full of frightened mutants feel like it had a home. And then he could turn up doing something so completely silly that you remembered the man behind all that magnificent seriousness had a sense of humor, too.

That is a lot to give people over one lifetime.

Sir Patrick Stewart has died at 86. His family announced his death on Thursday, October 29, 2026. According to the statement reported by ABC News and Reuters, he died at home in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, with his wife, musician Sunny Ozell, caring for him, following Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia.

The loss reaches across generations, fandoms, and the very different ways people first found him. Some knew every corridor of the Enterprise. Some met him as Professor X. Some fell for the Shakespeare readings he shared online when being stuck at home felt endless.

There was room for all of us.

He made Picard’s decency feel powerful

Stewart began playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987. The series ran through 1994, and he carried the character into movies and, much later, Star Trek: Picard.

The dates tell you how long he did it. They don’t quite explain why people held on.

Picard listened. He thought before he spoke. He could sit across from someone who frightened him, or infuriated him, and still insist on understanding what was happening. Stewart gave those choices enough weight that a conversation could become the most gripping thing in the episode.

Take “The Measure of a Man,” which puts Data’s freedom and status as a person at the center of a hearing. Picard’s ability to argue, to care, and to see someone others would reduce to an object becomes the action.

There is something deeply comforting about a character whose intelligence and compassion make him better at leading. Stewart made that believable. You could hear the authority in his voice, but you could also hear the responsibility.

He didn’t have to shout through every scene to own it.

And he could break your heart with a flute

For another side of his performance, there is “The Inner Light.” Picard experiences an entire other life through an alien probe: a family, a community, the passing of years. When he returns to the Enterprise, he carries the memories of people and a world that are gone.

The flute he keeps afterward is small. The feeling Stewart puts into it is enormous.

Science fiction can ask an actor to make an impossible situation feel real in a matter of minutes. Stewart could give that situation a whole emotional history. Suddenly, you weren’t thinking about how a space probe worked. You were thinking about love, memory, and the people a person has to keep living without.

That is an extraordinary thing to do inside an episode of television.

Professor X gave another generation someone to believe in

Stewart’s Charles Xavier arrived in X-Men in 2000, introducing a whole new audience to his particular ability to make a mentor feel reassuring without making him boring.

Xavier’s school offered a place for people whose differences had made them vulnerable. Stewart brought warmth to that idea. He could make a welcome feel sincere, and he could make Xavier’s disagreements with Ian McKellen’s Magneto feel like the painful arguments of people with history.

Then Logan, released in 2017, let him take the character somewhere far more fragile. Hugh Jackman’s Logan cares for an ailing Charles, and the relationship becomes a story about age, dependence, frustration, and the effort involved in looking after someone you love.

The superhero world was still there. So were two actors letting their characters be tired, difficult, funny, and vulnerable. Stewart’s performance gave Charles a human scale that made the film hurt.

The theater was always part of him

Before the starship and the school, there was the stage. The Royal Shakespeare Company records that Stewart joined in 1966. His roles there included Shylock, Prospero, Antony, and Claudius.

You can hear that background in his screen work, of course. The precision. The way he could give a sentence shape without making it sound embalmed. But his theater career deserves to be remembered for itself, too.

He returned to demanding plays even after becoming internationally famous. He also performed his own one-man adaptation of A Christmas Carol, a wonderfully ambitious proposition: one actor, all those people, an entire world to conjure.

The appeal of watching Stewart was often the feeling that he had thought carefully about every word and still left room for something alive to happen when he said it.

His friendship with Ian McKellen was a joy to watch

Stewart and McKellen gave audiences the pleasure of watching two friends work together, on screen and on stage.

McKellen’s own archive of their 2013 Broadway productions records the two starring in Waiting for Godot and No Man’s Land in repertory. Stewart played Vladimir and Hirst; McKellen played Estragon and Spooner.

If you knew them as Professor X and Magneto, that was a lovely invitation into a different kind of performance. The same two men who could carry those enormous comic-book ideas could also find comedy, tension, and companionship in Beckett and Pinter.

Even in a straightforward press photograph, there is something cheering about seeing them together. Two accomplished actors, still sharing the work.

That voice could be very, very funny

It would be easy to remember Stewart as permanently dignified. His comedy work makes that impossible.

His credits included American Dad!, Extras, Ted, and Blunt Talk, as his publisher’s overview of his career notes. He was willing to take the voice audiences associated with command and wisdom and put it to thoroughly ridiculous use.

The commitment was the fun. He didn’t need to pause and reassure you that he was a distinguished actor who understood the joke. He could give absurd material the same attention he gave a serious speech, and let the collision do its work.

Being impressive and being funny seemed to coexist quite comfortably in him.

He spoke up for people living with domestic abuse

A tribute to Stewart should make room for what he chose to do with his public voice.

He spoke openly about witnessing violence against his mother as a child and supported Refuge, the organization that helps survivors of domestic abuse. In its remembrance of Stewart, Refuge describes decades of advocacy, fundraising, and speaking out for women and children experiencing abuse.

That is something people are so often pressured to soften, conceal, or explain away. He used his own history to challenge that silence.

It would be unfair to turn a person’s entire life into the characters he played. But when remembering an actor so closely associated with defending other people’s dignity, his real support for survivors belongs in the picture.

Admiring the performances and remembering that advocacy can happen together.

There was also Ginger, the foster dog

For a much gentler glimpse of life outside the roles, there was Ginger.

In 2017, Best Friends Animal Society documented Stewart and Ozell fostering the pit bull through Wags and Walks. Videos of the couple caring for her drew attention to fostering and to the individual dogs behind the stereotypes attached to a breed.

A famous actor lending his profile to animal welfare is useful. A famous actor visibly enjoying the company of a dog is also just very easy to love.

Those ordinary, affectionate moments gave people another way to connect with him. No costume, no character biography required.

When the world stayed home, he read us Shakespeare

In the early days of the pandemic, Stewart began posting sonnet readings online. We covered them on Totally The Bomb in March 2020, when hearing that familiar voice read poetry felt like a particularly lovely thing to find on the internet.

The idea was simple enough that it didn’t need much explaining. Here was an actor with a lifetime of experience, sharing something he loved with people who could listen from wherever they were.

Shakespeare can feel intimidating when it arrives surrounded by the expectation that you should already understand it. A voice, a face, and a few minutes of attention offered a much more welcoming way in.

He returned to the sonnets in Patrick Stewart Performs the Complete Sonnets of William Shakespeare, released in April 2026, recording all 154 with his own commentary. His 2023 memoir, Making It So, offers another way to hear his story in his own words.

A few places to spend time with his work

If the news has you wanting to watch or listen to something of his, these are good places to begin:

• “The Measure of a Man,” Star Trek: The Next Generation: Picard arguing for Data’s freedom, and Stewart showing how compelling a principled argument can be.
• “The Inner Light,” Star Trek: The Next Generation: a beautifully contained story about another life and the memories left behind.
• X-Men: the beginning of his big-screen Charles Xavier, opposite McKellen’s Magneto.
• Logan: a raw, moving later chapter for Charles and Logan. This one is rated R and emotionally heavy.
• Making It So or his Shakespeare recordings: time with that voice, telling a story or bringing a poem to life.

A career this long leaves a lot of ways back in. A speech you remember. A scene that still gets you. A performance you somehow haven’t seen yet.

Patrick Stewart gave people so much to return to. Today, that is a comfort, even while saying goodbye feels awful.

Before we all start flipping switches, let’s look at what this one actually controls.

The setting is real. Live Listen can use your iPhone as a remote microphone, and a nearby paired Apple Watch can start a listening session. The warning leaves out the account requirements and wildly overstates what gets transcribed.

What is Live Listen?

Apple describes Live Listen as a hearing accessibility feature. Your iPhone picks up sound through its microphone and sends it to compatible AirPods, Beats headphones, or Made for iPhone hearing devices.

Think of trying to follow a conversation across a noisy table. You put the phone near the person speaking and listen through your connected hearing device or headphones.

Live Captions can also turn the speech picked up during a session into text. Those are captions of audio the microphone hears. This setting does not produce a transcript of your texts, browsing history, or every tap inside your apps.

What can “Remote Control” actually do?

Here’s the detail worth paying attention to: you do not necessarily have to pick up the iPhone to start listening.

Apple’s Watch instructions say a nearby paired Apple Watch can start a new Live Listen session, stop one, revisit recent audio, and display live captions. The iPhone and Watch must be signed in to the same Apple Account, and the setup includes enabling Remote Control and adding Hearing Controls on the Watch.

Apple also documents controls and captions on another nearby iPhone or iPad signed in to that same account. A stranger having an iPhone does not meet those requirements.

That is still a real microphone capability. Based on how Apple describes it, a phone left near a conversation could pick up that conversation during a remotely started session. The account and proximity requirements limit who can use the feature; they do not make other people’s conversations fair game.

Did iOS 27 switch it on for everybody?

That blanket claim is unverified.

Apple’s setup guide tells users to turn Remote Control on. It does not establish that installing iOS 27 silently enables it on every iPhone. The official documentation reviewed for this article does not substantiate the screenshot’s claim about the default after an update.

Finding an enabled switch on one phone would tell you its current setting. It would not, by itself, prove when it changed or what changed it.

The capability also predates iOS 27. Apple announced Live Listen controls for Apple Watch with watchOS 26 on June 9, 2025, including starting and stopping sessions on a paired iPhone.

How to check the setting or turn it off

For the control shown in the warning, go to:

Settings → Accessibility → Audio & Visual → Live Listen → Remote Control

If you do not want to control Live Listen from another device, switch Remote Control off.

An enabled Remote Control switch and a running Live Listen session are separate things in Apple’s instructions. To end a session that is running, open the Live Listen controls in Control Center and use the Live Listen switch to stop it.

The account check is useful, too

Because this feature depends on linked devices, it makes sense to know which devices are signed in to your Apple Account.

Open Settings → your name, then scroll down to the device list. Tap a device to see its details. Apple explains how to review that list and remove devices you no longer use or do not recognize.

For a separate microphone check, Apple says an orange indicator means an app is using your microphone. It does not identify the purpose of that access by itself. Our guide to the orange and green iPhone dots explains how to check the app behind the indicator.

So if you have seen a perfectly happy video with that caption and thought, what rabbit?, you haven’t missed an animal in the background. The happy part is usually the point. You’re looking at someone who doesn’t yet know what happens next.

Why is it a rabbit?

The reference is the White Rabbit from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. In Lewis Carroll’s original story, Alice sees a rabbit take a watch out of its waistcoat pocket. She follows it across a field and down a rabbit hole, then falls into a world she doesn’t understand.

That leap from ordinary life into something unfamiliar is the connection. On TikTok, the rabbit becomes a way to describe the event that pulled someone out of the life they thought they were living.

It is a metaphor. A caption alone doesn’t tell you what happened to the person, and it isn’t a prediction that something bad is about to happen to you.

What does “before the rabbit got me” mean?

It means the photo or video was taken before that turning point. The person might be celebrating a birthday, enjoying a relationship, or simply having a normal day.

In Bustle’s November 2025 coverage, creator @jordan_shier used footage from a birthday celebration to look back on a time before loss and heartbreak. The cheerful setting gives the caption its sting: the person in the video has no idea what the person posting it now knows.

That’s why these posts can feel so different from a straightforward breakup announcement. They let you see the ordinary moment that came just before everything changed.

Does it always mean a breakup?

No. A breakup is one use, but the phrase is broader than dating. The Daily Dot’s reporting documented posts about bereavement, betrayal, and an accident that interrupted a student’s plans.

Other people use the rabbit to describe a change they eventually feel grateful for. Something painful may have pushed them toward a different future, or they may frame following the rabbit as choosing a life they actually want.

Those are different stories sharing the same image. Someone finding relief after a relationship ends does not make another person’s loss a secret blessing. Read what the creator says instead of supplying an ending for them.

And what about the clock?

The watch belongs to the White Rabbit reference, and some versions of the trend use a clock image or ticking audio. It emphasizes the moment approaching, or how little time remained before a change. Other posts rely on the caption alone.

This also differs from saying “rabbit rabbit” on the first day of the month, which is a good-luck tradition. Shared rabbit, different meaning.

If someone you know shares a “rabbit got me” post, their caption is the best place to start. If they haven’t explained the event, they may only want to share the feeling. You can acknowledge that without asking them to put the worst day of their life in the comments.

The National Restaurant Association launched the site on October 22, 2026. In its announcement, the group said the voluntary program includes 37 restaurant brands and nearly 75,000 locations, with 19 brands joining over the previous year. The lineup includes both national chains and independent restaurants, with quick-service, fast-casual, and sit-down options.

How to find the actual order

Open KidsLiveWell.com and choose Good Food Finder, then tap a restaurant logo. You can also browse the participating-restaurants directory alphabetically.

Once you choose a restaurant, read the whole combination. The listing pairs an entrée with its qualifying sides and drinks, so you have a concrete order rather than just a chain name.

Three options currently listed:

• Chick-fil-A: Five grilled nuggets with a fruit cup and 1% milk.
• Applebee’s: A kids’ chicken taco with applesauce or steamed broccoli, plus 1% milk or water.
• Wendy’s: Four chicken nuggets with Apple Bites, plus 1% milk, water, or fruit punch.

According to the Association, registered dietitians check the program’s menu items against its nutrition criteria using information supplied by participating restaurants. The approval applies to qualifying items and combinations, rather than everything on a restaurant’s menu.

Save the directory for the next time you’re weighing a few restaurant options. Pick the restaurant, note the entrée, side, and drink, then check its current menu before ordering.

His name is Liberty Biberty. He wears a tiny Statue of Liberty crown, looks soft enough to squeeze, and has a face that makes the whole situation considerably more complicated.

Maybe you think he is adorable. Maybe you would prefer he conduct his insurance business somewhere you cannot see him. Either way, there is an actual story behind this little guy.

Who is Liberty Biberty?

Liberty Biberty is a puppet mascot that Liberty Mutual introduced on July 20, 2026. The company developed him with advertising agency Bandits & Friends, and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop built him.

Yes, the Jim Henson connection is real. There are some serious puppet credentials behind this little insurance guy.

The name goes back to a 2019 Liberty Mutual commercial in which an actor struggles to say the company’s name. “Liberty Biberty” was the flub. Now the flub has teeth.

According to Liberty Mutual, he is supposed to represent the warm, fuzzy feeling of getting good coverage at a good price. Which explains the fur. The dental work is still a creative choice.

There is a real person behind that face

Grant Baciocco is Liberty Biberty’s voice and puppeteer. His other credits include Earth to Ned, The Muppets, and Mystery Science Theater 3000.

So if you have been trying to figure out what, exactly, you are looking at, the answer is a physical puppet performed by a professional puppeteer.

Why do some kids love him?

There are parents describing exactly that reaction. Creative director Neisha Tweed Bell wrote that her son stops what he is doing to watch the commercials, repeats them in public, and keeps laughing at them.

The appeal seems pretty easy to understand: a goofy fuzzy character with a name that is fun to say. You do not need to understand deductibles to enjoy saying “Biberty.”

And why does he creep other people out?

Well. Look at the eyes. Then look at the teeth.

My read is that he gives you two different impressions at once. The fur suggests a stuffed animal you might tuck onto a bed. The face looks like it could ask whether you have updated your policy.

That could help explain a kid’s reaction, too, although these anecdotes do not establish how children as a group feel about him. The cute-versus-creepy explanation is an interpretation of his design.

People actually left their houses to protest him

The adult reaction has gone considerably further than changing the channel. Protesters recently gathered outside Liberty Mutual’s Boston headquarters to demand an end to the Biberty ads, according to WBZ NewsRadio’s reporting.

The organizer was 19-year-old YouTuber Connor Harvey. His joke about protesting the mascot grew into an actual event, complete with signs, chanting, and people showing up in person.

Imagine explaining your Sunday plans. Brunch? Nope. Taking a stand against the insurance pom-pom.

And this is where the story gets so much funnier than a normal annoying-commercial complaint. A company wanted people to remember its mascot. People remembered him hard enough to organize.

John Oliver got involved, too

Rolling Stone reported on John Oliver’s own Biberty segment, which took the backlash in a very adult direction: suggestive fan art of the mascot.

His joke was that ordinary outrage still gives a brand attention. So he proposed a kind of attention the insurance company might be less enthusiastic about receiving.

That part of the Biberty internet is definitely not the cute little commercial you put on for your kid.

As for the other Liberty Mutual characters, the company says Biberty joins LiMu Emu and Doug. They have not been replaced.

The emu still has a job. He just has a very strange new coworker.

What comes in Walmart’s $35 holiday meal basket?

The 2026 assortment announced by Walmart has 17 different products and 26 total items. It is a grocery basket you cook at home, with a frozen Butterball turkey as the centerpiece.

• Turkey and produce: a Butterball frozen whole turkey, a 5-pound bag of russet potatoes, three sweet potatoes, and a 12-ounce bag of fresh cranberries.
• Stuffing and sides: two boxes of Stove Top turkey stuffing, two boxes of Jiffy corn muffin mix, three cans each of corn and green beans, Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup, French fried onions, two packets of brown gravy mix, and a bag of mini marshmallows.
• Rolls and dessert ingredients: 12 brown-and-serve rolls, a package of two frozen pie crusts, canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, and frozen whipped topping.

The fresh cranberries are worth noticing. The shopping list has a bag of berries, rather than a can of ready-to-serve cranberry sauce. And these are ingredients, so check your chosen recipes and pantry before assuming every extra ingredient you need is covered.

Where the $35 price applies

Walmart’s advertised price is valid October 28 through December 24, 2026, with item availability varying. Alaska, Hawaii, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, and Wisconsin are excluded from the advertised pricing.

The estimate uses a 13.5-pound turkey at 97 cents per pound and 3.2 pounds of sweet potatoes at 88 cents per pound. Pick a different weight and your total can change. Check the actual basket for your store before checking out.

You do not need a special membership to buy the basket. Pickup, shipping, or delivery can add fees of $0 to $19.95, according to Walmart’s terms.

The delivery code is a separate offer

Walmart also announced free Express Delivery through November 30 with code THANKFUL. That offer requires an order of at least $35 containing Campbell’s mushroom soup, a Butterball turkey, or Stove Top stuffing mix. Taxes and other restrictions apply, and the offer can change or expire without notice.

That code is for the delivery promotion, not a requirement to buy the grocery assortment. Walmart’s announcement links to the basket and recipes, so you can compare the ingredients with the meal you actually want to make before adding it to your cart.
