Black Panther Cupcakes
Black Panther is officially in theaters and what is there not to love about it? After seeing the movie I got inspired to make these Black Panther Cupcakes. In fact, I made 2 different variations of them. They are so good, you’ll want to stalk them like they are your prey.
Before you get started on baking some delicious cupcakes you might want to make yourself a cocktail.
Not just any cocktail though, one that is panther approved…
Make this delicious Black Panther Cocktail. Then make your cupcakes! 😉
Now that you’ve got that made, you’ll be delighted to make these Black Panther Cupcakes so let’s pounce onto the kitchen…
What You’ll Need to Make Black Panther Cupcakes:
- Chocolate Cake Mix (plus ingredients to make it)
- Black Cupcake Liners
- Black Frosting
- Silver Sprinkles (optional)
- Black Fondant
- Silver Luster Dust
- Small Food Paintbrush
- Knife
- Wax Paper
- Cutting Board
- Rolling Pin
How to Make Black Panther Cupcakes:
- Start by baking cupcakes according to the directions on your chocolate cake mix package. Make sure you give your cupcakes enough time to cool before decorating or the icing will melt.
- Take the black fondant and place it on top of a sheet of wax paper. This helps prevent it from sticking to your cutting board or counter.
- Fold over a piece of the wax paper covering the black fondant entirely. Now use your rolling pin to flatten your fondant until it is about 1 inch thick. Note: black fondant shows all marks and finger prints, using the wax paper in between the fondant and rolling pin helps create a flawless look.
- Once your fondant has flattened, take a knife and cut out 5 nail looking pieces. Remove the excess fondant.
- Leave your fondant cut nails on your cutting board and on the wax paper. Transfer to the freezer and freeze for a minimum of 2o minutes. This helps harden the fondant and allows it to keep it’s shape.
- Once hardened, remove the fondant nails from the freezer. Grab your paintbrush and dip it into the silver luster dust. Apply a thin coat allowing the black to show through.
- Frost your cupcakes. I wanted to make mine almost look like fur so I used a butterknife to swirl the frosting onto each cupcake.
- Apply your Black Panther “finger nails” by placing them upright on a cupcake.
- Or, you can arrange them on top to match Black Panther’s necklace. Cool, right?
- You can add silver sprinkles on at this point if you wish.
- Serve them up and enjoy!
As I mentioned, there are two ways you can really make these and I love them both ways. Which is your favorite way?
