Cave Explorers Found An Ancient Forest In A Sinkhole And It’s Amazing
This is like something from a fairytale!
It’s mysterious, magical, and so beautiful!
Cave explorers in China discovered a hidden forest inside of a giant sinkhole!
It’s located in the Guangxi region of China and I wish I could go there to see it in person.
The giant sinkhole is 530 feet deep and is over 1,000 feet in length… that is massive!
They named the sinkholes ‘tiankeng’, which is Mandarin for ‘heavenly pit’.
When the cave explorers entered the sinkhole, they had to rappel down over 328 feet, and then they had to hike for many hours to even reach the bottom.
Once they got to the bottom of the sinkhole they discovered a primeval forest that has trees that are ancient and are 130 feet tall!
The team leader of the expedition is named Chen Lixin and he said that the plants were up to his shoulders.
I wouldn’t be surprised to know that there are species found in these caves that have never been reported or described by science until now.

They used a drone to document the discovery and it’s absolutely breathtaking!
