WOW. I needed this article. Like I really needed it. I needed to know I wasn’t alone in this crazy circle of hoping I’m pregnant, peeing in cups to test to see if those glorious double lines will pop up, then being disappointed when they don’t. I could never express how grateful I am that someone wrote about this so I would know while sitting on the toilet with a pregnancy test between my legs that someone, somewhere, is obsessing over the same thing and not getting the results they want either. So, thank you.

In reply to Jessica. I'm with you I have gone 10 months between periods before now as well as bleeding for 15 days and only stopped then through tablets from doctors. But was also so desperate to be a mum then it finally happened and now have a beautiful 3yr old little boy. I am beginning to feel the familiar feelings I did before I fell pregnant though xxx

I would be careful taking those tests too early.

I did it myself and ended up having what insensitive people call a “chemical pregnancy.” The line on the stick was faint but definitive. I was so happy but then two weeks later I got my period. I was heartbroken.

The expensive tests especially are very sensitive, probably too sensitive. They are good for people selling tests but not good for women buying them.

Omg, this is hilarious and totally me! I have two kids already and I finally got my first period after my last baby (16 months after birth)… I was crazy with the POASs even before my period though because you never know!? I definitely have a box of 50 from Amazon currently in my bathroom.

I’m praying for you and hope you have all the babies your heart desires!

Mine is waiting for the period to arrive obsession. I have PSOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) so they are really irregular. Then it’s waiting for the damn thing to go away so you can start the fun part. Then the POAS part Coz you know you’re not getting a period for at least 2-3 months so you just have to know. Right. Now.

In reply to Mandi. I think she meant 'elusive' as neither illicit nor elicit really makes sense in the context. I have a lot of sympathy for POAS-ers, this used to be me before I had my son two years ago. I hope that you all get what you wish for very soon.

Cute article, best wishes on your journey to end the POAS (hopefully a bundle of joy)! I’m sure you meant “illicit” in the sentence “possibility of getting those elicit double lines”…but it’s also kind of humorous because you’re hoping the test would ‘elicit’ the desired results 🙂
