Whether you are preparing for a hurricane or bracing for a hard winter, knowing some useful life hacks in a pinch, just might save your life.

For example, people made mini heaters out of flower pots and candles to keep warm during an insanely cold time in Texas. Genius, right?

And now, I’ve seen people talking about Crayon Candles. But do Crayon Candles actually work?

Do Crayon Candles Actually Work?

In an emergency situation, crayon candles do work but should only be used as a last resort and should never be left unattended.

Again, Crayon Candles actually work (I’ve tested this myself) so if you are unable to access your candles, flashlights or have exhausted those resources, you can turn to lighting your crayons on fire.

So, how do you do it?

Well, you start by removing the tip of the crayon or at least melting it down. Once the crayon is down enough to reach the paper around the crayon, you can light it on fire using your lighter or matches.

Obviously, you don’t want to be holding this with your hands so you can stick it upright on a plate or put it somewhere the kids and pets can’t reach it.

The crayon will burn for a solid 30 minutes. The flames get big and they do get quite hot but again, it works in a pinch.

This is something cool to keep in mind for sure!
