Elizabeth Banks Is Going To Play Ms. Frizzle In ‘The Magic School Bus’ Movie
Welcome back, Ms. Frizzle! Elizabeth Banks is set to star in a big screen version of our favorite teacher/bus driver from The Magic School Bus.
If you were alive in the 1990s, you know this series is about a fourth-grade teacher, and her class of curious students. They ride around in Frizzle’s magic bus, that can shapeshift into just about anything, and can travel just about anywhere … including inside people’s’ bodies to learn about blood cells, under the sea to learn about sea life, and going into an oven to learn about heat transfer and pie making.
If you have never heard of the show, you could probably guess that this is an educational animated show that teaches kids about science. Kids LOVE it. I know my children’s teachers use it in the classroom to talk about science concepts.
Originally a book series that sold more than 80 million copies, The Magic School Bus was adapted into an animated science series on PBS. It showed for 18 consecutive years on this public broadcasting network, before it was adapted to a series on Netflix in 2017.
And now, Elizabeth Banks is set to play this role in a movie!!
We are delighted to bring to life the iconic Ms. Frizzle and her zest for knowledge and adventure in a fresh new way that inspires the next generation of kids to explore science and supports the dedicated teachers who help make science real and accessible for young learners every day.

The new project will be a live-action hybrid film, and Universal executives Sara Scott and Lexi Barta will oversee production on behalf of the studio, while Ryan Christians will oversee for Marc Platt Productions.

So, “Seatbelts, everyone!!” We will soon get a new Magic School Bus for this next generation of littles. I foresee EVERY 1990s baby taking their children to see this fun animated/live action hybrid, to enjoy the fun that is Ms. Frizzle and her Magic School Bus!
