Christmas Crack (With A Twist)

Sometimes I want to be just a little naughty. No, scratch that, I want to be Very naughty. And this Christmas Crack (with a twist) is so naughty, it’s nice. Forget your diet for the day and indulge yourself in these sugary, buttery, chocolatey treats that (rumor has it) were created by a hedonistic ex-monk who was out to break all the rules. Well, sir, we thank you.  Being bad never tasted so good. Enjoy!

Pro Tip: Use butter. You might be tempted to substitute margarine or something else, but use butter. Substitutes leave the graham crackers soggy, but butter will always leave them crisp and delicious. Also, add some nuts or toffee pieces for an even sweeter treat!

My next door neighbor growing up was a sweet little old lady named Mrs. Anderson. She'd sometimes care for us after school and she always had a snack on hand. Usually it was a cup of hot tea, some figs from her tree out back, and these delicious graham cracker cookies. To this day I always think of Mrs. Anderson when I make them, and they always bring a smile to my face. Enjoy!

Buttered saltines are a regular treat in my life now and as a child. My grandmother always had oyster crackers and we dipped them in softened butter. I did this with my grand children as well.
