I don’t know what happened this year, but it’s not even Halloween yet, and people are already talking about putting up their Christmas trees.
Why? Why are you trying to make Christmas two freaking months long? Why are you trying to have your house full of tinsel and clutter?
Why do we need this so bad? What is going on in the world that we are so ready to just skip through November without thinking about turkeys and stuffing and cranberry sauce?
Why are we trying to jump into the gift giving and the rigamarole of who’s house we are spending which thing, let’s all calm down a little and give Thanks.
I don’t care if science says decorating for the holidays makes you a happier person. What I do care about is taking a minute to pause, and to breathe, and to take in November in all it’s golden glory.
November deserves its day in the sun. December always gets all the love.
So, who’s with me?
Let’s put up our trees AFTER Thanksgiving is over.
In fact, if you’re feeling extra naughty, you can just wait until December.
Do it, you won’t.
