Holiday Recipes In-Peel-Banana-Split Feature

This is a pretty simple recipe (hence me calling it “easy”). I like to make this around the holidays when there’s all this treat-stuff going-on, but you kinda miss the summer a little…

What you need to make In-the-Peel Banana Splits:

  • Nestle Carnation’s Famous Fudge Kit
    • Now, this is a super-simple way to make fabulous, rich fudge–all in one kit in under 10 minutes, but it makes over 1 1/2 pounds of fudge, so be sure to have another recipe in mind or prepare to treat yourself and others to this creamy fudge in LOTS of banana-splits! LOL!
  • Wonka Sweetarts Candy Canes, one each in Blue Punch, Green Apple, and Cherry flavors, crushed
  • 2-3 bananas
  • Marichino cherries, if desired
  • Nuts, if desired
  • You can also put ice cream, but since I’m allergic to milk…

How to Make Your Fudge:

  • Just follow the directions on the box
  • Once your fudge has been made, but BEFORE you refrigerate it, sprinkle it with those crushed candy canes…come on, I dare ya!

How to Put Your In-the-Peel Banana Splits Together:

  • Cut a few very small squares of fudge (1″ by 1″ should suffice, although smaller would be fine, too) and set aside.
  • Using a butter-knife, or if you’re amazing, peel back one section of the banana peel. Discard the peeled peel portion.
  • Cut out notches in the banana’s meat that are about the same size as your fudge squares.
  • Place the fudge squares in the notches in your banana.
  • Put a few cherries in a strategic location to your liking and maybe even drizzle some cherry juice on top.
  • You can also sprinkle other things over it, but this is what we do in our house since there are people allergic to nuts here.
  • Enjoy!
