Is Blockbuster Making a Return?

Renting hard copies of VHS tapes to watch a movie has been replaced with the modern day remote.

Watching a movie at home when Blockbuster was still around involved making the drive to rent the film but today, everything is at your fingertips, but you know what they say, history does repeat itself.

The yellow and blue store which filed for bankruptcy years ago has suddenly gone live once again.

Since the website has gone live, rumors have been circling that Blockbuster might be returning, considering the website itself says in bolded yellow letters “We are working on rewinding your movie.”

However, these are just rumors.

Millennials and Baby Boomers can dream right.

Needless to say that Blockbuster’s official Twitter account has made the current rumors about their comeback even closer to the reality we all hope for.

In January of this year, the store published a tweet that jokingly mentioned the thought of reopening again until the idea seemed like “too much work”.

Although is Blockbuster really joking, because their website seems to tell another story.

Our 2023 New Year’s resolution was to reopen Blockbuster but it seemed like a lot of work so we quit. Should we start going to the gym instead?

Since their bankruptcy in 2010 with most stores shutting their doors by 2014, only one single store remains standing.

Now it might be too early to tell, but is Blockbuster returning for good?

Here’s hoping if they do return, they at least nix the late fees.
