‘It’ Is Getting A Prequel Series And I May Never Sleep With The Lights Off Again
The first time I watched It, I slept with the lights on for a straight week.
Granted, I was 12. But, that was the pivotal moment in my life when clowns went from being a fun circus novelty, to a terrifying creep show that haunted my nightmares.
Well, Georgie, we are headed right back to the city of Derry, Maine, and I may never sleep again.
Welcome To Derry is going to be based on the Stephen King novel that started it all, as well as the terrifying adaptation films by Andy Muschietti.
Now, we don’t know much — anything, really — about the plot, but do we need to know much really?
Killer clown, red balloons, sewers — we pretty much know what’s coming, right?!?
To be able to return to the world of my all-time favorite horror novel and help build upon the singularly brilliant cinematic universe created by Andy and Barbara is more than the opportunity of a lifetime, it’s a dream come true — or, maybe more appropriately, a nightmare.
Jason Fuchs, Welcome to Derry Showrunner and Writer
The series is being developed by Andy Muschietti, his sister Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs — all of whom were involved in the scary-as-hell It and It Chapter Two.
It is even being endorsed by Stephen King, himself!
I’m excited that the story of Derry, Maine’s most haunted city, is continuing, and I’m glad Andy Muschietti is going to be overseeing the frightening festivities, along with a brain trust including his talented sister, Barbara — Red balloons all around!”
