While many of us found out the importance of skincare during puberty, today there are many ways to go about your skincare routine!

To name a few of the most recent trends in skincare including “glass skin”, glowy cheeks, and now “jello skin”, the new beauty trend is sweeping TikTok all thanks to one creator @glowwithava!

@glowwithava has introduced a new beauty trend that combines a glowy look to our faces but also skin that appears plumped dubbed “Jello Skin”.

Inspired by the dessert that bounces back, the ultimate goal of this new beauty trend is to have the same “plump” affect except on our faces and not in a saucepan.

What Is Jello Skin?

“By definition, jello skin is having skin that is so elastic that when you move it, it bounces back, just like jello,” Lee explained to POPSUGAR.

Furthermore, Ava introduced the new beauty trend after visiting celebrity aesthetician, Lord Gavin McLeod-Valentine for a facial appointment.

“He was impressed by how much collagen I have in my skin and how bouncy it was,” she says. “Although coined after this facial, the process of getting this kind of skin was a long time coming,” Ava mentioned to POPSUGAR.

She further explained that the word “jello” is actually an acronym that stands for:

J = journey, representing a change that doesn’t happen overnight.

E = eat balanced meals

L = lifestyle

L = laugh, to encourage you to use those face muscles

O = old isn’t bad, and you can have plump skin with age!

“Jello skin is so much more than the outer appearance,” she said to POPSUGAR. “It is about having a lifestyle that focuses on both external and internal nourishment that allows you to have plump, elastic skin, and this cannot be achieved with just a skin-care product. If anything, there is less emphasis on skin-care products but more an emphasis on your diet, facial massage, and overall lifestyle.”

How to Get Jello Skin

Considering jello skin starts from within, rather than working from the outside first, Ava recommends a balanced diet packed with colorful fiber- and collagen-rich foods.

For products to use to achieve “jello skin”, facial exercise and massages are critical, and you can either use your hands or designated facial tools like the gua-sha!

“And most of all, be patient with your results – it is not an overnight change,” Ava Lee highlights.
