Jennifer Aniston is Remaking The 80s Film ‘9 to 5’. But Why?
‘9 to 5’ was a super popular film when I was a kid. It was released in 1980, yes I am THAT old.
Most younger people know the song ‘9 to 5’ performed by Dolly Parton, but many have never watched the movie or even knew it was from a movie.
The movie starred Lily Tolin, Jane Fonda, and Dolly Parton. It was also Dolly Parton’s first theatrical film debut!
The movie was about some of the struggles women in the workforce dealt with. Some of the stories in the movie were from the 9to5 organization in Boston.
My ideas for films always come from things that I hear and perceive in my daily life … A very old friend of mine had started an organization in Boston called 9to5, which was an association of women office workers. I heard them talking about their work and they had some great stories,
Jane Fonda told The Times of London in 1981
Jennifer Aniston’s production company, Echo Films, is remaking the film with a modern twist, and I’m just not excited about it.
The movie is perfect as it is and I don’t see why we can’t just leave perfection alone and come up with NEW ideas.
Sequels have been discussed in the past with the original cast, but nothing ever came of it. I would have been interested in a sequel with the original characters.
Currently, there haven’t been any details about the storyline or a cast for the remake. Have you watched the original? Do you think it should be remade for modern times?
