I’m sure most of you are in the loop as to what has been going down in the Johnny Depp case against Amber Heard for defamation.

My Facebook feed is FILLED with opinions and a lot of people seem to be watching it.

The trial that’s taking place in a Virginia court will resume on Monday.

If you are not up to speed, I’ll go over what has happened so far so you can catch up.

Amber Heard is Johnny Depp’s ex-wife and he is currently suing her for $50 million dollars for defamation.

In 2018 Amber wrote a piece for The Washington Post where she presented herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse”.

Now, Johnny wasn’t straight out named in that article. but everyone knew who she was referring to and Johnny says that this cost him acting roles and pretty much halted his career for the time being.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were married in 2015, by August of 2016 they were divorced and each had accused the other of domestic violence and abuse.

The defamation trial started on April 11th, on April 19th Johnny began his testimony, however, Amber has not testified yet.

The trial is set to resume on Monday, April 25th with Johnny Depp being cross-examined by Amber’s lawyer.

So, let’s go over what’s happened so far in the trial…

Amber says that Johny was verbally and physically abusive to her, she filed a complaint back in 2016 and said that he had thrown a phone at her face that left a bruise.

Johnny denies that it ever happened and he was never charged with a crime over the allegation.

Never did I myself reach the point of striking Ms. Heard in any way nor have I ever struck any woman in my life.

He did admit that they often argued, but that he had never struck her in any way.

There were audio recordings played during the trial where you can hear Amber talking about her striking Johnny though…

You didn’t get punched; you got hit. I’m sorry I hit you like this, but I did not punch you

Johnny has said that he did physically defend himself during violent episodes from Amber, and you know… I don’t blame him.

Everyone is entitled to defend themselves when being assaulted by someone, doesn’t matter if it is a male or female.

Johnny testified that in 2015 Amber threw a bottle of vodka at him, which shattered and severed his finger!

When he went for medical treatment for his severed finger, like most victims of abuse, he made up a story trying to explain the severed finger.

Amber’s lawyers used statements he had made to ER doctors and are trying to say that he cut off his own finger.

He had lied and told the ER doctors that he had slammed his finger in a door, typical of domestic violence victims.

I didn’t want to disclose that it had been Ms. Heard that had thrown a vodka bottle at me and then took my finger off. I didn’t want to get her in trouble. I tried to just keep things as copacetic and easy as possible for everyone. I didn’t want to put her into that mix.

He has had to have several surgeries for his finger injury and even contracted MRSA, which is freaking awful!

Ben Rottenborn, who is Amber’s attorney presented text messages that Johnny had sent to his friends and some staff members.

In those text messages, one had mentioned Amber’s “rotting corpse”.

Johnny regrets the messages and said he was embarrassed to have sent them and that it was simply dark humor… I’ve personally said worse things about people cutting me off in traffic.

Other text messages presented were discussions of alcohol and drug use with friends, and that really doesn’t shock me… this is Hollywood after all.

All of this has noticeably had an impact on Johnny Depp’s acting career and he has lost roles over it.

I would be a real simpleton to not think that there was an effect on my career based on Ms. Heard’s words, whether they mentioned my name or not.

This is why there is a defamation case, to hold her liable for what she has put out there about him.

How are you feeling so far about all of this? Are you team Johnny or team Amber?
