This Lawyer Couldn’t Turn Off His Cat Filter During A Zoom Hearing And It’s Hilarious
ICYMI, there was a lawyer in Texas who showed up to a Zoom hearing with a judge, but his picture was that of a cat. Ha!
He had a filter on his video, and he couldn’t figure out how to change it back to the picture of just his face.
I can’t stop laughing!!
The judge stated what was completely obvious to a confused and frazzled Rod Ponton, the lawyer.
Mr. Ponton, I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings. You might want to — uh —
Judge Roy Ferguson, Judge of Texas’s 394th judicial district
Poor Mr. Ponton. He was so caught off guard by the filter that had been placed on his computer.
Uh — we’re trying to — can you hear me, Judge?
Mr. Ponton, Lawyer
And, the judge, in trying to help, really just made the situation more hysterical by stating what was blatantly obvious.
I can hear you. I think it’s a filter.
Judge Roy Ferguson, Judge of Texas’s 394th judicial district
I can’t help but feel bad for the lawyer, Mr. Ponton — but that’s not going to stop me from laughing!
It is (a filter), and I don’t know how to remove it. I’ve got my assistant here. She’s trying to, but — uh — I’m prepared to go forward with — I’m here live, it’s not — I’m not a cat.
Mr. Ponton, Lawyer
I am dying!!
In an interview with The New York Times, Mr. Ponton said that he was using his secretary’s computer at the time, and he was completely mortified.
Luckily, he could see the funny side of this situation — like the rest of us — but I’m glad it was HIM and not me!! LOL!!
If I can make the country chuckle for a moment in these difficult times they’re going through, I’m happy to let them do that at my expense.
Mr. Ponton in a phone interview with The New York Times
Well played, Mr. Ponton, well played.
