Here’s The Entire List of JCPenney Stores Closing Due to Bankruptcy
JCPenney is in the horrible situation of having to file bankruptcy due to the virus, and the quarantine that it caused.
They are going to start the process of store closing sales, which is a great thing for our wallets, but so sad!
The JCPenney website will stay open, and select stores will survive the bankruptcy. The entire list of stores closing as of right now is below.
Back in the day, JCPenney was the place to go! They had everything, at less expensive prices than some of the big retailers.
They had a makeup counter, but it didn’t sell the expensive name brand stuff. It was still BEAUTIFUL makeup, but it was more like the “B” makeup. LOL!
They had a section of purses, but they were about half the price of the big anchor stores. I spent so much money in this section of the store!
At Christmas time, JCPenney had the most awesome displays of gadgets and gizmos to buy for Christmas gifts. They had everything from crystal vases, to men’s wallets, to bedroom linens, to kitchen appliances, to backyard bowling sets for kids.
Back when I lived in TX, and worked at Build-A-Bear Workshop, I bought my work uniform at JCPenney like every month. It was conveniently located two stores down, so it was a no-brainer!
JCPenney was THE store to shop at — and I don’t know when all that changed. *Sad Face*
Implementing this financial restructuring plan through a court-supervised process is the best path to ensure that JCPenney will build on its over 100-year history to serve our customers for decades to come. We believe the RSA and the widespread support we have received from our asset-based lenders and first lien lenders will allow us to pursue a financial restructuring on an expedited timeframe. We are also encouraged by the level of support we have received from our vendor partners, landlords, and other stakeholders, whose confidence in our business and our people is expected to contribute to a successful reorganization.

Hopefully this time of financial hardship will only strengthen the retailer, and it will soar like a phoenix from the ashes of bankruptcy.
JCPenney is not the first store to have to close at least some of its stores. The present situation is affecting many retailers in a negative way. Pier 1, Tuesday Morning, and Bath and Body Works have all announced they are either closing partially or totally.
We are definitely in uncharted, unprecedented times, and things are appearing like life is going to look a bit different in our worlds from here on out.
