M&M’s Is Getting Rid of Their Beloved ‘Spokescandies’ After Receiving Backlash For Changes Made
You wouldn’t think that updating a look would cause so much controversy, but M&M’s has been inundated with complaints about the new look of their M&M’s spokescandies.
They have gotten so many complaints, that they are pausing the spokescandies “indefinitely.”
Last year, the M&M mascots were given a modern, updated look; one that was meant to make the spokescandies a bit more inclusive.
But, apparently people were having none of it.
The M&M outfit controversy (I mean, it’s shoes, people!) basically broke the internet, and The M&M’s Chocolate Company is now apologizing.
In the last year, we’ve made some changes to our beloved spokescandies. We weren’t sure if anyone would even notice. And we definitely didn’t think it would break the internet.
M&M’s
Crazy, right?
Those colorful M&M spokescandies have been around for YEARS, and people are notoriously not good with change.
In an attempt to bring everyone back together around the M&M’s bowl, M&M’s has decided to bring Maya Rudolph in as the interim spokesperson for the colorful chocolate candies.
We have decided to take an indefinite pause from the spokescandies. In their place, we are proud to introduce a spokesperson America can agree on: The beloved Maya Rudolph.

You will be able to see Ms. Rudolph in her new role as M&M’s ambassador during the Super Bowl LVII commercials.
We are confident Ms. Rudolph will champion the power of fun to create a world where everyone feels they belong.
