Y’all I was today year’s old when I learned what Paprika is made from and I’m shook.
Did you know that paprika is made from ground red peppers? On the milder side, it’s particularly made from red bell peppers.
Honestly, all this time, I just assumed it was some other special form of pepper or some plant or tree that made this staple spice.
And if you felt the same, you are not alone. People everywhere are just finding out this information and are totally shocked by it.
According to WikiPedia:
Paprika is a spice made from dried and ground red peppers. It is traditionally made from Capsicum annuum varietals in the Longum group, which also includes chili peppers, but the peppers used for paprika tend to be milder and have thinner flesh.
YUP – shocked!!
And, you can even make your own at home (though it requires some time and patience).
