People Are Putting Aspirin Into Their Laundry
Aspirin is typically known for helping relieve aches and pains but people have since found an alternative use for it.
Apparently, Aspirin can help remove stains and brighten your clothes. So, if you have a dull, grey or yellow tone to your whites, Aspirin can help.
I mean, it’s basically relieving that headache with laundry!

Why does this work?
Since Aspirin contains acids which turn into salicylic acid when dissolved, it works by breaking up the proteins in sweat stains as well as other stains.
It’s also said to be gentle on clothing and won’t harm or damage the fabric.
How to Use Aspirin In Laundry
All you need to do is take 4-5 aspirins of 325 mg and dissolve them in hot water. If you want to dissolve them faster, you can grind or break the tablets up.
For stubborn stains, soak the clothes in the mixture for about 8 hours then wash and dry as normal.
You can also grind up the tablets and throw in with your normal laundry detergent and wash your clothes normally. This isn’t as effective as soaking but it will still help brighten clothes and make stains less noticeable.
Sure, you can use bleach but this just seems more fun. Or just works when you’re out of bleach but have some Aspirin in the medicine cabinet.

I read the article and found it super interesting I might try it really soon… but just one question, i did not get it to use it with whites only or is it safe to use with any color? Hope to get your comments as i found this illustration almost from heaven 🙂

I’m all for making life-hacks, but is it really appropriate to use medicines for anything not health-related? I mean, laundry detergent is probably not the greatest thing for the enviorment either, but if people keep using medicine where it is unnessecary we will face a world where our medicines won’t work because the bacteria have developed an imunity. I’m not saying this specific article will cause it, but if it goes further things could escalate quickly, dangerously quick. Please don’t encourage people to use medicines instead of regular washing powder. Find other hacks with better enviormental benefits instead <3

Jennifer, I understand the point you were trying to make and I’m all in agreement that there’s no need in people taking antibiotics if they’re not necessary, BUT aspirin isn’t an antibiotic it is a pain reliever thus it isn’t allowing bacteria to become immune. Salicylic acid is in almost every acne product on the market. People have been crushing up aspirin and putting a mixture of aspirin and water on their pimples for decades and I’m sure that decades to come will use the same hacks for aspirin as well. So I understand your concern for the environment but it’s no worse than putting hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice or vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice on clothing to whiten them. Just wanted to get my comment in before the hateful ones rolled in.
Not saying anyone has the right to be hateful because you were right with what you were saying.
I mean, that’s not how aspirin works…
