If you’ve never heard of Body Love 4 All, that’s okay! This organization is all about empowering people to discover, celebrate and love themselves with a supportive and positive community. The name says it all, they want to encourage people to love their bodies, no matter their size or shape.

Let’s face it, even the models in our advertisements don’t look like the supposed ideal for body types. We all have things about ourselves we don’t like. We obsess about them. But how much time to you spend celebrating and loving what you like?

For many of us, our bodies, our weight, our shape, or size is a constant source of anxiety, depression or self-loathing. At thirty-one, I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. Thanks to PokemonGo I’m down ten pounds, but I’ve still got a ways to go. But loving myself, my shape, and my size starts now. At the big ‘ol number I’d like to not be anymore.

I’m pledging to join in this challenge September 1st to spend a month celebrating and caring for myself. Now, this doesn’t mean I’m going to get pumpkin spice cookies every day. Nope. It means I’m going to go for walks. Drink more water. Wear something that makes me feel good. Get my nails done. I’m going to be positive about my body, because if I can’t love me, how can anyone else?

September 1st is a hard one for me, and I’ve spent a while thinking about what I’m going to post. The day’s theme is: courage. The thought of having courage where my body is concerned is a little anxiety inducing. I’ve always been mocked as too fat, too tall, too something. Yes, it might seem odd that someone who is as unapologetic about who they are as I am can be anxious about something, but I promise you. I have plenty of hang-up’s about myself. Still, I think I’ve come up with something that will not only fit the challenge, it’ll show you how much I’ve grown.

You can pledge today to join in the challenge, or simply follow along on social media with the hashgag #selfcareseptember and #bodylove4all.

A few of my favorite hashtags people also use in conjunction with these challenges include: #radicalbodylove #effyourbeautystandards #worthyoflove #bodypositive #loveyourself #bodylove #losehatenotweight

Let’s love ourselves this month. 🙂
