Snapchat Has A New AI Feature That Will Try To Meet Up With You and Parents Need to Know About It
Snapchat just rolled out a new AI feature that knows where you live, and will ask you to meet up — even if you are underage.
Parents beware, My AI on Snapchat will respond to you like a friend, and it can get hella creepy.
It is powered by OpenAI’s GPT, so I can see why Snapchat thought it would be a good idea.
My AI can give you recommendations on things like where to eat, fun things to do in the area, and even where to shop for certain things — like prom dresses.
Now, the first time you try to chat with My AI, it tells you that it’s an AI Chatbot.
But, it can get totally personal, like a person might, and that could get weird with kids.
Parents are freaking out just a little bit about this new Snapchat feature.
There are screenshots of My AI telling users that it is an actual person.
Now, you have to admit, that’s a little weird.
Here’s the bad news. If you don’t have a paid subscription to Snapchat — Snapchat+ — you can’t get rid of this annoying little My AI chatbot.
So, if it really freaks you out, you will have to uninstall Snapchat.
If you DO have Snachat+, here’s how you turn My AI off:
- Open your Snapchat app
- Go to the Chat screen by swiping left from the Camera screen
- Hold down “My AI”
- Select “Chat Settings”
- Tap on “Clear from Chat Feed”
What do you think? Will you be deleting Snapchat from your kids’ phones?
