There’s this conundrum that I face in my life every single day: I want to be healthy and eat more vegetables, but I also want ice cream.

Or chocolate, or really anything with more sugar than a human being probably needs in a day. Vegetables are super important, guys. But sometimes I just have to settle for fruit and pretend I’m doing my body some good. Fruit totally counts too, right guys?

This Strawberry Banana Layered Smoothie is the perfect happy medium…right? Come on, work with me here…

What You’ll Need to Make a Strawberry Banana Layered Smoothie:

Strawberry Layer

  • 1 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt

Banana Layer

  • 2 bananas
  • 1/4 cup orange juice

How to Make a Strawberry Banana Layered Smoothie:

Okay, so maybe just having a lot of fruit isn’t the same thing as having a few vegetables once in a while, but still, this recipe is so easy that you might just start trying to justify it yourself.

Using your trusty blender, pulse both of the strawberry layer ingredients until smooth. Pour this in your favorite fruit, vegetable-avoiding glass.

Rinse out your blender (or break out your second blender – hey, I don’t know your life) and do the same with the banana layer ingredients. Pour this on top of the strawberry layer. If you do this gently, you’ll get that cool two-layer smoothie.

If you don’t, you still get a strawberry banana smoothie, but it won’t be nearly as cool.
