‘The Wizard of Oz’ Is Getting A Remake And I Don’t Understand Why
Growing up and even as an adult, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ is a yearly movie on my watch list. Every single year!
I remember when I was a kid and it was time for the ‘The Wizard of Oz’ to play on the television. We would make an event out of it.
Even this many years later it is still such a great and exciting movie. We have already had other versions made, why do we need another?
Sure, we’ve got special effects these days that blow the ones back then out of the water. However, it just isn’t needed, this movie is perfect the way it is.
Hasn’t this been done before? Yep…
According to Deadline the ‘Wizard of Oz’ remake is in the works at New Line Cinema. Nicole Kassell will be directing the new film.
I am incredibly honored to join Temple Hill and New Line in bringing this beloved classic to the screen. While the 1939 musical is part of my DNA, I am exhilarated and humbled by the responsibility of re-imagining such a legendary tale. The opportunity to examine the original themes — the quest for courage, love, wisdom and home — feels more timely and urgent than ever. These are profoundly iconic shoes to fill, and I am eager to dance alongside these heroes of my childhood as we pave a newly minted yellow brick road!

Every time they try to remake one of these classic films it just ruins it for me.
There is just no way that any remake will ever compare to the 1939 version starring Judy Garland. They’ve tried before!
The new film is said to be a “fresh take” on Dorothy and the Land of Oz. Sigh, where has all of the creativity gone?
How do you feel about yet another attempt at this classic story and movie?
