The ‘Tramp Stamp’ Is Making A Comeback And We Are Fully Prepared
All you Gen Xers and early Millennials — you’re fixing to be “cool” again.
I mean, you are already cool!! Don’t let them tell you any different!!
One of my absolute favorite trends from the late 90s and early 2000s is making a comeback, and I’m about to go schedule an appt with my local tattoo artist!!
The lower back tattoo — affectionately *eye roll* dubbed the “Tramp Stamp” — is coming back in style! Gah!!
ALL the celebs were getting them. Stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera wore theirs like a badge of honor, and everyone flocked to the tattoo shops to be just like them.
A “Tramp Stamp” with a pair of super low-rise jeans with that “Whale Tale*” — it was the thing to do, right?!?
I’ll admit. I was too chicken to take the dive into the world of lower back tattoos in the late 90s. I didn’t end up getting a “Tramp Stamp.”
I got 5 OTHER tattoos, but none of them were worthy of that — completely offensive — name.
The “Tramp Stamp” fell out of style almost as quickly as it started. All the Gen Xers and Millennials were relegated to tucking in or wearing long shirts hoping nobody would see their tattoos.
Well, let them out loud and proud!!
Missed the boat the first time lower back tattoos were a thing?
You need not wait any longer. “Tramp Stamps” are back with a vengeance.
Isn’t it cute how the younger generation thinks they thought of all the “cool” things to do — how to wear their hair, the clothes they run out and buy, the tattoos they brand themselves with. Been there, done that.
They don’t realize exactly how “cool” their parents were — and still are!!
Next thing you know, belly button rings are going to be back in. Ha!! We are all just waiting to stick our butterfly belly button piercings back in place — you know you saved yours!
*Don’t know what a “Whale Tail” is? It’s when your thong underwear peeks up over your low-rise jeans, looking like a whale diving in the water. Ha!
