Recording artists are turning down the opportunity to play at King Charles’ coronation, and I have so many thoughts.

The list of those declining to perform at the coronation keeps growing.

There is only one artist who has given a reason as to why he won’t be performing, and that’s Elton John.

According to PageSix, the Rocket Man singer says he won’t be there, because he has “scheduling issues.”

BUT, the guy has an entire song about Princess Diana, “England’s Rose,” so we can pretty much surmise where his allegiance lies.

What Artists Have Declined To Play At King Charles’ Coronation?

Besides Elton John, the list of artists who have said “No Thanks” to an invitation to perform at the coronation includes some pretty big names.

The Spice Girls, Ed Sheeran, and Adele have all decided to skip the festivities.

Harry Styles and Robbie Williams have also turned down the opportunity to appear at the momentous occasion.

Why Are Artists Declining To Play At The Coronation of King Charles?

Besides the whole allegiance to Princess Diana, experts believe the recent scandals surrounding the British Royal Family might play a role in the lack of enthusiasm to perform.

First of all, there is the whole Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama.

We’ve all heard about their scandalous sit-down with Oprah, Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, and the constant bickering with the family.

Then there’s the whole Frogmore Cottage situation.

King Charles just booted his brother, Prince Andrew — with whom he does not get along — from his home at the castle.

Charles gave Andrew Frogmore Castle to set up residence.

Only, that was supposedly the British home of Prince Harry and Meghan, given to them by Queen Elizabeth at the time of their wedding.

Drama, drama, drama.

I can imagine that showing up to perform at King Charles’ coronation might give the appearance that the artists are choosing sides.

Are Any Recording Artists Actually Going To Perform At The Coronation Of King Charles?

Yes, there are a few artists that have kind of jumped at the opportunity that the others have turned down.

According to Forbes, English artists Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald are all set to headline the Coronation Concert.

Others that will appear include Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Lionel Richie.

What do you think? Will you be watching?
