Writing about Sketch is so frakkin tough!

villainSo, I have been spending a lot of time in the editing process of my super villain book.

In short, my main character is a sixteen year old super villain that can alter the future with her drawings, when she’s not busy being a geeky high school student that is.

She’s awesome.

I love her so much, and I wrote her in a way that makes me want to actually be her. But she presents a lot of problems…

For one: She’s bad–so I have to be careful not to make her too bad because we still need to love her.

She can alter the future with her drawings, so sometimes she will draw something and the first time through I think it totally worked, but then I read it again and I am so upset with her for not just using her power. Silly Sketch.

Her mom can read her thoughts. Do you know how hard it is to keep a sixteen year old’s mind from her mother when she knows everything the poor girl is thinking? Oh Smack it’s hard!

A lot of this stuff worked out on its own in the telling of the story, but I have had to go back in and redo some stuff and make it work a little better.

But, Sketch is fabulous. She drew her boyfriend into a bad boy and I love her for that! He’s super bad too– and that’s another little conundrum I faced. I want him to be all mean and sinister, but again we can’t hate him because Sketch loves him!

I am having so much fun with it though, and THIS is the story I am supposed to tell. I abso-freaking-lutely (I wonder what the correct spelling of that phrase is) can’t wait to say it’s completely finished.

I hope it’s my book. I really do. But I am just happy that I got to write it. That’s what it’s all about, right?
