Everyone knows the beginning of a new year is the time to contemplate life. It’s all fresh and young, and there’s a whole world of possibilities out there. It’s nice to have a starting place marked on a calendar each year to jump off from. For those of you that are big goal setters, you might even do that resolution thing.
Well, I am not one of those people. Goals are hard for me… I get distracted easily and I don’t focus enough. But, I am all about the word of the year. Basically you pick a word and make that your theme for the entire year. Mine last year was “TRY” and I did it. I tried all sorts of new things, (the least of which is freakin’ roller derby) and it really just sort of focused my year into something awesome.
This year I need a new word, and I want something to build off last year’s word. I’ve thought a lot about this, and there are several. Because of last year’s word, I am not afraid to try new things, but this year it’s all about getting good at them. I thought maybe I might go with the word “better” but that didn’t really do it… that isn’t exactly what I want. I don’t want to be better at the new things I am trying so much as I want to try and get better. What does that mean? It means I have to PRACTICE.
And that’s the word for this year… PRACTICE. This year my life will be all about PRACTICE. And I love it.
