graham cracker cookies

Christmas Crack

My next door neighbor growing up was a sweet little old lady named Mrs. Anderson. She'd sometimes care for us after school and she always had a snack on hand. Usually it was a cup of hot tea, some figs from her tree out back, and these delicious graham cracker cookies. To this day I always think of Mrs. Anderson when I make them, and they always bring a smile to my face. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks of butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 package graham crackers
  • chocolate chips
  • chopped nuts as many as you desire, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Bring butter and sugar to a boil.
  • Boil for three minutes.
  • Pour over graham crackers and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Use butter. You might be tempted to substitute margarine or something else, but use butter. Substitutes leave the graham crackers soggy, but butter will always leave them crisp and delicious. Also, add some chocolate chips or toffee pieces for an even sweeter treat!
