Apple has apparently decided your kitchen counter needs its own little iPhone-adjacent command center. And this one can tell which member of your household is standing in front of it.
Meet Apple HomeView, a new $299 smart home screen announced October 13, 2026. It comes as a tabletop device or a wall-mounted model, both designed to help you run your home without constantly digging out your phone.
What does Apple HomeView actually do?
HomeView has a seven-inch Liquid Retina display, speakers, a camera for FaceTime, and Apple Intelligence with an updated Siri AI assistant. It can show and control compatible smart-home accessories, display camera feeds, play music, and handle household routines.
But the feature that made me stop scrolling is face-based personalization. Apple says HomeView recognizes enrolled household members and adapts what appears on screen, including personal information from Calendar, Messages, Reminders, FaceTime, and Find My.
So this isn’t just one shared screen showing everybody the same boring dashboard. It’s designed to know who is looking at it and show the things relevant to that person.
How much does HomeView cost?
Apple says both the tabletop HomeView and HomeView (Wall Mounted) start at $299 in the United States. Preorders opened October 13, with availability starting November 13, 2026.
The tabletop model comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray. The wall-mounted model comes in silver and space gray. Some wall-mount installation hardware costs extra, so don’t assume every installation accessory is included in that $299 starting price.
Will HomeView work with everyone in the house?
Apple says up to six household members can enroll, and each needs an Apple Account plus a compatible iPhone or iPad running current software. The device is designed around Apple’s home ecosystem and compatible smart-home accessories. Check device support before buying it for someone whose home runs on a different platform.
There is an important catch in Apple’s footnotes: Siri AI launches in beta. Its personal-context features require a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad with current software and Siri AI enabled. Personal content also depends on recognizing the enrolled user and the paired device being present and recently unlocked. That is worth checking before buying one for the whole household.
Do you need one if you already have an iPad?
That’s the $299 question. An iPad can already handle calendars, video calls and home-control apps. HomeView’s pitch is a shared, always-available home station with personalized recognition and hands-free Siri AI rather than another personal tablet you’ll carry around.
If you’ve already built out a compatible Apple smart home, that idea might be genuinely appealing. If you’re mainly looking for a kitchen clock and a weather report, the price deserves a second thought.
You can view the colors, models, and current preorder information on Apple’s official HomeView store page.
