Did You Know You Can Text 9-1-1 to Be Connected With the Police If You’re Ever In A Situation Where Can’t Call?

If there’s ever a time you’re in danger, 9-1-1 is there to pick up the phone when you call in an emergency.

For the moments where you can’t call a 9-1-1 dispatcher over the phone, you can still get in touch with 9-1-1 thanks to one Facebook user who shared this tip.

A picture that proved you can text 9-1-1 in an emergency where you can’t call or speak.

She was not in trouble but instead wanted to test out the messaging system as a learning PSA.

The conversation started with Whitney letting the police know she was not in any danger, but wanted to confirm that you can text 9-1-1 for emergencies if needed.

The conversation quickly followed with a message in the same minute that read, “You have reached Fort Worth PD, please wait to be connected to a calltalker or call 9-1-1 if you can.”

A second message that followed a minute later confirmed contact with the police that read, “This connected you to Fort Worth Police Operator MO30.”

The police then asked if Whitney needed additional info with the text conversation finishing with “a no thank you’ and “to have a great rest of your day!”

The viral photo which reached thousands of Facebook users with 170k shares, the post has been used as a PSA to let people know you can text 9-1-1 to be connected with the police in an emergency!
