Toasted Tuna Salad Sandwich – Fast Food Done Right
Dear Parents:
Summer is here and I’m guessing your little darlings are already starting to press buttons you didn’t even know you possess. Next time your kids are chanting, “We’re hungry! We want fast food!” reach for the cabinet instead of the car keys. That’s right, folks, a Toasted Tuna Salad Sandwich is fast food done right. Yeah, yeah, you know how to make it. You’ve made it before. You don’t need us here at TTB telling you what you already know…but…how many times have you gone out to eat so far this week? This month? Save yourself time and money and make this high protein family favorite instead. Throw in some popcorn and a fun movie and you might even catch a catnap while the kids chill. Good luck!
What You Need To Make Toasted Tuna Salad Sandwich:
- 1 can family sized tuna
- 1/3 cup mayo (or Miracle Whip if you want it tangy)
- 1/2 small onion, diced
- 1 large pickle, diced
- 1 rib celery, diced
- wheat bread, toasted
- sliced tomato
- lettuce
How To Make Toasted Tuna Salad Sandwich:
Drain water from can of tuna.
In a medium size bowl, combine tuna, mayo, onion, pickle, and celery until well blended.
Slather onto toasted wheat bread, add tomato and lettuce, and enjoy!
Pro Tip: For an even more unique flavor, try changing up the ingredients. A family favorite in my home is diced apple. Jicima is another fun tuna add-in. It doesn’t change the flavor, but it adds to the crunch. Yum!
