Build-A-Bear has a new bear wearing a “Lowkey Tired” sweatshirt and carrying a tiny coffee cup. Apparently the stuffed animals have also had a week.
His name is Huck, and he’s part of Mellow Moodies, a new collection that launched October 8. Build-A-Bear created the line for teens and young adults, with three characters to start: Huck the Bear, Mateo the Dog and Willow the Fox.
Before you fall for a fully dressed photo, there’s a price distinction worth knowing: the plush friends start at $36 each. The styled gift sets cost more.
Huck has a coffee habit and a separate clothing budget
Build-A-Bear describes Huck as a serial hobbyist who might be tending houseplants one week and perfecting cold brew the next. The bear comes with a very relaxed expression. Relatable.
The collection page lists his “Lowkey Tired” gift set with coffee for $70. The larger jacket, beanie and coffee bundle is $94 and includes the bear, sweatshirt and cargo-pants outfit, white shoes, sherpa jacket, beanie and plush coffee accessory.
So if the sweatshirt-and-coffee look is the part you want, compare the included pieces rather than assuming the $36 bear arrives dressed like the launch photos.
There’s a playlist dog and a stationery fox, too
Mateo is the music friend. His $72.50 “Vibing” gift set pairs the dog with an outfit, hiking boots and green plush headphones. They’re a toy accessory, not working headphones.
Willow is the journal-loving fox and old-school letter writer. Her “All the Things” gift set is listed at $71. For someone who already has a drawer of stationery, she feels like the obvious match.
You can choose a character and customize it through Build-A-Bear’s make-your-own experience, including optional outfits, accessories, sounds and scents. That also gives you a way to start with the plush and choose only the extras you actually want.
The collection is available online and at Build-A-Bear Workshop locations. Prices above are the U.S. listings checked October 9; check your local store’s availability before heading over.
