Trick-or-treating with a giraffe break is a very Colorado Springs way to spend October.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo has more than 20 treat stations, and its new Giraffe Center will be open during the festivities.
The new giraffe space is a reason to linger
This is a substantial change if your last zoo visit was before the expansion. The zoo’s Giraffe Center announcement describes a 12,000-square-foot barn, a yard expanded by 25%, and 11 feeding zones instead of the previous three.
There’s a feeding island inside the barn that guests can reach by a rope bridge or stairs. The habitat gives visitors different views of the herd, including from above and at giraffe eye level.
For Boo, giraffe lettuce costs $3 per bundle or $5 for two. Many treat stations also offer non-food items for children with allergies or dietary restrictions.
Pick your night, then check the entry time
Boo runs October 16, 17, 23–25, 30 and 31, 2026, from 4–8:30 p.m.
The zoo lists advance tickets at $24.75 for ages 3–64, $19.75 for members and 75¢ for ages 2 and under. Members still need a separate Boo ticket.
Driving? Advance timed tickets are required for on-site parking. You have a half-hour entry window, then can stay until closing. Rideshare tickets are a separate option.
An earlier entry makes more sense if you want time for both animals and candy without rushing the whole loop. Only selected animal areas are open for Boo, so build the night around the event rather than a full-zoo checklist.
Before buying, read the current ticket and costume rules: refunds or exchanges close two weeks before your date, and bad weather doesn’t qualify. Choose a costume that works with a warm layer.
