After almost four years of waiting, there is finally some word of the Moana sequel actually happening!
Just like with Frozen, Moana fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for any news of a sequel coming out any time soon. Especially after Frozen 2 has become such a hit! (I personally have the soundtrack on repeat thanks to my kiddos)
Moana was an amazing movie and earned $650 Million worldwide so it’s easy to see why everyone would be eager to see the bright Polynesian culture of Moana coming back for a round two, surely to have more addicting songs and lovable characters!
The details that are in the works with the new sequel are still very scarce.
Some are saying that a new princess will be reviled, one of Latin culture. In fact, rumors are that Songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda is said to have met with Disney about the sequel of the film.
One sigh of relief is that both Dwayne Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho are rumored to be returning, as well as Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the original songs in the first Moana movie.
When will the sequel happen? Hopefully soon. Will it be as good (or even better) than the first movie? Only time will tell but I can’t see it being anything short of amazing.
As of right now, we don’t know much other than rumors and word that Moana 2 is currently in the works. Let’s just hope it is sooner rather than later.
