Ford has taken the retro craze to a whole new level by introducing us to the F-100 Eluminator, but just wait until you hear about it.

This car is straight out of the 1970s — 1978 to be exact — but there is one major upgrade. It’s ELECTRIC!!

Gah!! I love it!!

Ford

Based on a heritage 1978 F-100 pickup, the F-100 Eluminator concept features all-wheel drive via two powerful electric motors shared with the 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition.

The F-100 Eluminator was introduced to the world as a concept vehicle, but according to Ford, you can go ahead and purchase it now.

Now available to purchase online or at a local dealer through Ford Performance Parts, the Eluminator electric crate motor from the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition produces 281 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque

I’m not even a fan of most retro trucks, but this one is hella cool!

With this new Electric F-100 Eluminator, you can have your super cool big retro truck, but still be environmentally conscious, not ripping up the ozone layer with each vrooom of the engine.

Ford

The interior — OMG, I love it!! — is in the style of the old 1978 truck, but it has all the comforts of a new vehicle in the present — most notably, the digital display.

I personally LOVE the weathered gray look. It totally reminds me of something my dad would have owned in the 70s. Something bright and shiny would just not be true to that retro vibe.

If you don’t want to dive in and tackle the entire F-100 Eluminator vehicle, you can buy just the Eluminator motor, which can go in your own project vehicle. The price is $3,900 for the motor, and would be perfect for that budding mechanic.
