Ghirardelli is taking its chocolate chips straight to the cookie aisle. The brand has launched ready-to-eat Crispy Cookies in Classic Chocolate Chip and Double Chocolate, and its Kroger rollout begins October 11.
There’s already a way to try them if you’d rather skip the shelf hunt. Both flavors are listed in stock on Ghirardelli’s website for $8.95 a bag as of October 10.
The detail that caught our attention: Ghirardelli says its semi-sweet chocolate chips are the first ingredient in the classic flavor. That is a promising starting point for anyone who picks the most chocolate-filled cookie off the plate.
Two flavors, with plenty of chocolate involved
The Classic Chocolate Chip cookies pair those semi-sweet chips with a cookie the brand describes as having butter, vanilla and brown-sugar notes. These are baked, ready-to-eat cookies, so there’s no oven commitment between opening the bag and snack time.
The Double Chocolate version goes further: dark chocolate chips, cocoa powder and chocolate in the dough. The official photos show the difference immediately, with a dark cookie alongside the golden classic.
Each 6.3-ounce bag contains 10 cookies. At the current direct-from-Ghirardelli price, that works out to about 90 cents per cookie before tax and shipping. A little cookie splurge, then.
When they’re coming to grocery stores
According to Ghirardelli’s October 7 announcement, the retail rollout starts at Kroger on October 11, followed by Walmart on October 24. Additional retailers nationwide are expected to start carrying the line in January 2027.
Those are rollout dates, so check your store before making a special trip. Grocery-store pricing has not been confirmed; the $8.95 price is from Ghirardelli’s own online shop.
If you order direct, check the shipping options and charges for your address before checking out. The brand currently has warm-weather shipping restrictions in place for some destinations.
For the grocery list, look for the blue bags: a light-blue stripe for Classic Chocolate Chip and a red stripe for Double Chocolate.
