A tiny ghost reading a book. A miniature apothecary for your shelf. A pumpkin you get to build out of mosaic tiles. Apparently, buying Halloween decorations is no longer enough. Now I want homework with a spooky theme.
Target’s 2026 Mondo Llama assortment has several very different versions of a Halloween craft night. These are listing-based picks, not projects we have personally completed, and the age labels matter more than the cute packaging.
For painting instead of assembling: the Reading Ghost kit
The Reading Ghost Paint by Number Activity Kit is listed at $15. It pairs a book-loving ghost with a black cat and comes with a framed canvas, numbered acrylic paints, brushes and instructions.
This is the direction I would choose if tiny furniture sounds exhausting but filling in a spooky picture sounds lovely. The design gives you something specific to follow instead of a blank canvas daring you to be artistic.
One important detail: Target’s specifications say adult use only. A cartoon ghost does not automatically make this a children’s craft.
For the tiny-world people: an apothecary book nook
The 3D Miniature Apothecary Book Nook Activity Kit is also listed at $15. The contents include nine wooden pieces, decorative accents, printed papers and white glue, with little details such as a broom, cauldron and skull.
This one makes sense if assembling the scene is the entertainment you want. It is a different commitment from coloring a picture: you are arranging a miniature display, not just decorating a surface. The listed age recommendation is 14 and up.
I would read the latest customer feedback before choosing this kit. Its small early review pool is not enough to promise an easy build, and we have not assembled it ourselves.
For a smaller purchase: four resin ghost keychains
The four-count Resin Ghost Keychain Activity DIY Art Kit is listed at $5. It contains silicone molds, two-part resin, glitter, keychain hardware, mixing cups, gloves and craft sticks.
That price is tempting, but this is not a peel-and-stick project for little kids. The product highlights say 14 and up, while the specifications list adult use. Follow the packaging’s age, handling and supervision instructions; do not choose it as a quick preschool activity because the ghosts are cute.
The pumpkin mosaic belongs on the watchlist, too
The pumpkin mosaic pictured here comes from Target’s official 2026 Halloween announcement. The retailer specifically includes pumpkin mosaic kits in its seasonal craft lineup. It is another option to investigate if placing colorful pieces sounds more appealing than painting or building a miniature.
Pick the project, not just the box
For me, the useful distinction is the kind of evening each kit asks for: painting, miniature assembly or working with resin. Check the exact contents and age guidance before buying, and leave room for the instructions to tell you how long the project needs. None of these listings is a promise that you will finish before the movie ends.
