I’ll admit it, I am one of those a**holes. The ones that consume way too much water and recycle way too much plastic.

Back in March when this whole pandemic started, I stocked up on water and when I say stocked up, I mean I bought 20+ cases of water. I’ve since added to that amount. Don’t worry, I didn’t take ALL the water, I am not that bad of a person.

While I do have a family of 7 and we go through a ton of water, I didn’t realize just how BAD those plastic water bottles were until now.

I mean, I knew they weren’t great but I was lead to believe recycling was a good thing and it helped and so water bottles weren’t terrible. And we do recycle weekly but apparently that isn’t enough. How do I know?

Well, I binge watched Zac Efron’s New Netflix Series Down to Earth and ow I realize that OMG I am a monster.

If you haven’t watched it yet, add it to your weekend watch list but until then, let me just sum it up for you…

In Zac Efron’s show, he travels the world to explore different places in the world that have figured things out. Everything from eating healthy to being happy and everything in between.

In episode 2 titled France they explore the water system that Paris has installed that allows all citizens to have access to clean, filtered water for FREE.

This episode completely blew my mind. It reminded me that the U.S. has a long way to go when it comes to caring for it’s citizens.

More importantly, it made me realize my problem with plastic water bottles and how having them is actually far more terrible for our planet than I had ever truly realized.

With all of that being said, I’ve had an immense sense of guilt come over me the last few days and every dang time I have to leave through our garage I am reminded how I am part of the problem and not the solution.

So, in the past few days my web search history has been nothing but looking up different types of filtration systems for our home water (our tap water is gross) and looking up reusable water bottles (hello Hydro Flasks!).

I don’t know about you but I want to be part of the solution in this fight against global warming and make our planet something our future generations can live on.

Until I get rid of these water bottles I can’t help but feel guilty AF and I bet you will too once you watch that episode. It was an eye opener for sure.

P.S. Get ready because Zac Efron is looking mighty fine in his new show!
