IKEA has turned three giant wooden matches into a floor lamp, and the red tips actually light up. The STRÅLA matchstick lamp is listed at $44.99 on IKEA’s U.S. site, which is a fairly reasonable price for making a corner of your house look like a tiny person lives there.
The three pine “matches” cross in the middle to form the stand. In IKEA’s holiday photo, it sits beside a chair and wrapped gifts, with those red heads glowing against a wood-paneled wall. It fits right into Christmas decorating without being something you have to pack away with the stockings.
The glow is the point
There is one number worth checking before you buy: IKEA lists the light output at just 5 lumens. Choose this one for a little decorative glow beside the sofa or gifts. You’ll still want a separate reading light for the book in your lap.
The lamp has two-step dimming and built-in LEDs, with an estimated LED life of 25,000 hours. IKEA specifies indoor use only, so keep this particular pile of matches inside.
Check the size before picking its spot
Although IKEA calls it a floor lamp, it stands 26 inches tall and measures 13 inches wide. That makes it worth measuring the spot you have in mind rather than picturing a full-height lamp towering over your armchair. The cord is 8 feet 2 inches long.
The current U.S. listing is article number 506.456.11. Enter your ZIP code on the product page to check delivery and local availability before making a store trip.
IKEA’s 2026 winter collections are rolling out in October. If your holiday decorating already leans toward the wonderfully odd, the tiny hot dog Christmas ornament is another very specific choice.
