Is Starbucks Going Cashless? Here’s What We Know.
If you know anything about the internet, you know, information spreads like wildfire.
That is exactly what happened recently when an image starting circulating that mentioned Starbucks will be going cashless beginning October 1, 2022.
Well, the image in question has caused such an uproar that Starbucks has now made a statement in regards to going cashless.
For starters, this image started in the UK and was originally referring to the UK Starbucks locations.
Is Starbucks Going Cashless?
A viral image circulating the internet claims that Starbucks will begin going cashless and will no longer accept cash as a method of payment beginning October 1, 2022. It caused the hashtag #BoycottStarbucks to begin trending on Twitter. However, Starbucks has said this is not entirely true.
While Starbucks says that Starbucks franchises have the ability to choose to not accept cash, overall, they are not moving to a cashless model.
A spokesperson from Starbucks said:
“Starbucks has no plans to go cashless across our UK stores and we want to shut down any inaccuracies or further speculation on this matter.

The spokesperson continued:
“In the UK, we operate alongside various licensee business partners, which means this may vary from store to store and the majority of stores continue to offer cash payments to customers.”

So, the bottom line is, stores will have the ability to change their policies as will. However, Starbucks as an entire business is not requiring stores to go cashless.
