Lowe’s has a free kids’ workshop coming up on Saturday, October 17, 2026, and this month’s project is a little firefighting plane. If your weekend plans could use something that comes with an actual activity, here you go.
Kids will build and decorate a rescue plane at the Firefighting Plane workshop, sponsored by First Alert. Lowe’s lists the in-store event window as 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Register before you make it the Saturday plan
Start with the official event page and select “Register Now.” You’ll need to sign in or create a Lowe’s account. The workshop program runs through MyLowe’s Rewards Kids Club, which also requires a Kids Profile for your child.
According to the Kids Club FAQ, membership and the regular monthly workshops are free. Parents can create the Kids Profile during workshop registration.
Preregistration is required, and Lowe’s recommends signing up early because spots can fill at individual stores. Check availability for your location and follow the time shown in your registration confirmation. A workshop on the national calendar does not guarantee an open spot at the store down the street.
What to know before you go
Lowe’s recommends its kids’ workshops for ages 4 through 11, with parent or guardian supervision. Plan to stick around and help with the build.
The FAQ says projects typically take about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the child’s age and the kit. That’s the usual workshop estimate, so leave a little breathing room in your Saturday schedule.
Check your local registration first. Then you can put “build a tiny rescue plane” on the calendar.
