If You Move To Greece You’ll Only Have To Pay Half of Your Income Taxes For 7 Years and I’m Packing My Bags
If you’ve ever wanted to move outside of the U.S., now just may be the time.
Greece is making an offer that is almost too good to pass up. Seriously, I am considering packing my bags as I write this.
Greece is currently working on a law that will offer a hefty tax incentive to workers who move there from abroad.
The idea is that it will help create more professional jobs and reverse its crisis-era brain-drain, an adviser to the prime minister told Reuters.
The hefty tax incentive involves allowing anyone who moves to Greece a 50% tax break on income taxes. Meaning, you will only pay half of the income taxes you normally would.
But it gets even better, this deal is good for 7 years!!
This incentive package will be available only during 2021 and for people who have not been Greek tax residents within the last seven years will be eligible.
It is also available whether you are self-employed or work for someone else.
So, don’t hesitate if you have always wanted to do something like this!
Alex Patelis, who advises Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on financial matters, said Greece hoped to attract “digital migrants” after the coronavirus pandemic accelerated a shift to remote working in many countries and sectors.
“A worker from abroad who moves to Greece will be eligible for a 50% exemption on income earned here for seven years under the plan,” he said on Wednesday, adding that legislation will be brought to parliament by the end of the year.
