I sure do love a full moon! We will have two gorgeous full moons this month! Tonight is the Full Harvest Moon and then we also have a full moon on Halloween!

The Full Harvest Moon is extra special because Mars will be clearly visible as well. I plan on sitting outside and appreciating it! It has finally cooled off here in Texas and a crisp night under the moonlight sounds like a plan!

Nature is particularly cooperative in giving us full-looking moons near the horizon after sunset, for several evenings in a row, around the time of the Harvest Moon.

You’ll want to try to spot it just after sunset. It will look larger and brighter with that beautiful orange glow from the sunset.

We call it the Full Harvest Moon because it is the closest full moon to the autumn equinox, which was Sept 22nd. Normally the Full Harvest Moon happens in September, but ya know… this is 2020!

The best time to spot The Full Harvest Moon is at 5:05 PM EST when it should be at its peak illumination. So like I said above, right around the end of the sunset is when you want to find it as well as Mars.
