Out of this World Adorable Toy Story Alien Mini-Donuts
My kids are excited about Toy Story 4–and so am I. So I made these Out of this World Adorable Toy Story Alien Mini-Donuts because shared excitement should always include donuts.
And if life wasn’t full of both Toy Story and donuts, I just don’t know if I’d want to be in it
Out of this World Adorable Toy Story Alien Mini-Donuts
Let’s be very clear. This is not a drill.
Toy Story 4 comes out in just a few short weeks–and then it’ll be out on DVD and the whole world will be rejoicing with reliving our long-time adventure with Woody and Buzz.
Also, my kids are just now old enough to really enjoy it–so I’m getting a chance to relive the excitement.
So, if I’m being a little silly about it, making Out of this World Adorable Toy Story Alien Mini-Donuts and some alien popcorn…well, you have to give me a break–they’re just now there with me.
And, that’s a precious thing to be enjoying and really reveling in–sharing that moment with your little kiddos.
Which is the whole reason I made the Toy Story Alien Donuts. I mean, who in their right mind would make these if they didn’t have kids?!
Ok, well, yeah, before I had kids, I probably would have totally made these, too, so there’s that.
But, they’re so cute! And yummy.
Oh, and ridiculously easy. With only a handful of ingredients…who knew?!
Just whip-up some batter, then throw it in the mini-donut maker.
Or you can use a pan, but who needs a pan when you have a donut maker?!
Then it’s dip and add a few eyes!
I seriously love how easy these are.
They’re so easy, I kind of wonder why I didn’t make them for years.
I mean, less than 10 minutes and we’re rolling in donuts.
And that’s the beauty of cooking with kids.
You need something fast and definitely easy enough that they could potentially help you and you won’t get lost in the minutia of the steps if the kid suddenly needs your help wiping their butt for some reason.
That’s exactly what these Toy Story Alien Donuts do for me.
They’re easy, tasty and fun.
And, maybe a little messy, but that’s fun too.
Now, if you’re anything like me, you can’t remember if you have candy eyeballs in the pantry or not.
It’s ok–I hear that when the kids are over 6, we’ll get our brains back. Or not.
That’s probably not true, but whatever.
So, go ahead and pin this recipe for Out of this World Adorable Toy Story Alien Mini-Donuts, so you can find it again in 10 minutes after you go look, then come back and give these cuties a 5-star rating for awesomeness when you’ve made them!
Ingredients
- Donuts:
- 2 cups baking mix I used Bisquick
- 2 cups milk
- Icing:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tblspn corn syrup
- 1 tblspn milk
- Candy eyeballs
- 1 tsp Neon Green GEL food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat mini-donut maker (you can also cook in a donut pan at 350-degrees).
- Combine baking mix and milk with a hand mixer until smooth. If it’s too thick, add more milk in 1/3 cup increments, stirring between, until you reach pancake batter consistency.
- Spoon into your mini-donut maker or donut pan. If baking, place in the oven for 8 minutes or until browned.
- Remove from the donut maker when slightly browned and the donut maker opens without tearing the donuts. Set aside to cool to the touch.
- Mix the powdered sugar and corn syrup. This will not be a viscous mixture–it will be a lump and weird.
- Add 1 tspn of the milk and stir. Continue stirring-in 1 tspn of milk at a time until you reach the desired consistency of your icing (almost like the donut batter).
- Add food coloring and stir until the color is consistent.
- Dip donuts into the icing and immediately place 3 candy eyeballs on one side, set aside to “set”.
- Serve!
